Interesting, had not seen that. I would have thought relevance would matter more.
It is relevant because it’s essential but they, I think correctly, view it as little more than a ceremonial role. It needs to be done, but could be done by anyone. She doesn’t get to contribute in any ways that demonstrates her individual prowess or in ways that can bolster a run in 24.
Manchin uses his position for strategically for personal benefit. He loves being the Democrat who hates Democrats. He may have more of an excuse because of his district, but he’s still a fucking wanker.
Oh I think so, and I think his politics are terrible. But he is exactly what he always presented himself to be. And if he did not exist that seat would be a safe Republican one and the majority of the votes he provides to support the Democratic party agenda would be lost. That is how his seat should be viewed, rather than for the occasional but high profile nos.
The bigger issue I have with him is less that he obstructs elements of the agenda, but the way he contributes to the discourse is dumb and unhelpful to the larger agenda. He could stand in opposition to the things he does in ways that are less damaging to the party’s narrative.
Unimpressed with this move.
It makes it all the more important that Warnock won in Georgia, so the Dems can keep their noses in front in the Senate, even if Sinema is completely unreliable.
A three way AZ race will make it hard for the Democrats to win that Senate seat in the next election. It seems like a bit of a spoiler-tear-it-down sort of move to me.
"In Sinema’s 2009 book “Unite and Conquer: How to Build Coalitions That Win — and Last,” she described giving up shrill partisanship, which was making her unhappy, for a vaguely New Age ethos that prized inner tranquillity. One chapter was called “Letting Go of the Bear and Picking Up the Buddha,” with the bear representing fear and anger. “Picking up the Buddha (becoming a super centered political actor) makes you a stronger, more effective you,” she wrote. “To be your most fabulous political self, you’ll need to learn to recognize the bear and learn to let go of it in your work.”
Who is paying for this? It’s illegal to begin with. He’s wasting taxpayer money on this and nobody is pulling him up?
Wasting taxpayers money on political stunts is nothing new.
Twat / Face
Not to worry. He’s doing it for all of us.
Quite magnanimous of him.
Coming on the back of this spectacular failure from the NYT
What are the politics of a man who has recently endorsed the GOP for elections, is constantly publicly siding with ethno-nationalists and fascists, and is now indistinguishable from a MAGA chud? Well, he says he’s a centrist so I guess we just have to take him at his word
He’s a thoroughly unpleasant man. I hope he has a $44Billion Twitter bonfire and loses a lot of money. I wouldn’t mind seeing Tesla go to irrelevance too, as other electric car companies have better technology - Lucid, or better infrastructure to overtake Tesla - most of the big boys you can name. Tesla struggles to roll anything out, on time and on scale.
Most expensive rabbit hole in all of history.
As far as Tesla goes , doesn’t he realise that the leftist ‘woke’ crowd are precisely the kind of people who buy electric cars ? If I was in the market for one , which I might be soon , I wouldn’t even consider buying a Tesla , solely because of him.
Exactly. I am weighing up the options on my next vehicle. Test drove a Tesla, but it had the feel of a Toyota Camry or something, in terms of fit and finish. Early adopters of battery technology, and big screen and so on, but for the price point, it didn’t feel very luxurious.
That knob head Musk is going to be left with SpaceX.
What a nice bunch of people
She is an awful person and an ugly hound. For the former, she should be censured and removed from Congress. She is dangerous.
It’s beyond me how such a fury can be elected into the US congress and play any official role. She’s dangerous as you say, but where are the people wanting to stop her? Nowhere to be seen it seems.
Elon Musk appeared at a Dave Chappelle show in San Francisco, where he recently fired a bunch of twitter employees, and was booed off the stage. Chappelle then ended the show also.
What a pair of sad old men these two are.
Seems typical of Musk’s hubris to think he could just walk on stage and be funny. Chappelle apparently gave up trying to say anything amusing when he discovered the existance of trans people.
