Ding Dong.....the US Politics Thread (Part 1)

Much better to ask the people on here,I get the same answers (maybe) but they give the background info as well, like the Senator is a knob.

No you were just looking for sensation in a lazy way!

@Flobs do me a favour tonight, think before you post responses.

Thankfully she’s not a senator, just a House Representative.

Our rail infrastructure is dog shit. Shit lines carrying old cars all using FDR era technology. There has been a decades long fight over the need to modernize regulation of it, specifically the part that caries potentially toxic cargo, and really all that has happened is the regulations have lost teeth. The result is the freight companies getting richer, stressing their systems more and more, knowing that a catastrophic accident was waiting to happen but that they would not be held responsible and would be allowed to carry on as normal once someone else paid the consequences of their crash.

She’s pathetic. Imagine having telegraphed this to the point that Trump knows you’re doing it and cannot even get upset about it and says nice things about you. That’s how pointless you are.

Hey Donny, can I be be your VP?

Let’s see how Trump reacts when DeSantis throws his hat in the ring.

We’ve already seen it and it’s exactly what we thought it would be - MAGA eating itself. He has already launched a Desantis is a groomer argument, and has long been pointing out that Ron would be a nothing without Trump saving his 2018 campaign. This is one of the few such claims he’s made that you can reasonably defend given he was not favoured for the nomination until he started being an absurdly pro-Trump candidate with Trump’s explicit support. Trump has since claimed that he stopped the mandatory recount early to prevent De Santis losing (an astonishingly unaware lie) and that earlier in the nomination he came to him in tears asking for help to save his campaign.

There may be a big field, but to Trump the only one that is relevant is De Santis and has his ire very focused on.

Is it a certainty De Santis is going to run ? Surely there’s a calculation that it would be wiser to step out this time round (and avoid the inevitable character assassination) and let Trump go down in flames all on his own.

hrmmm…who would that be? BNSF…who owns it?

Berkeshire Hathaway… Warren Buffett

He may make that calculation, but I dont think he will and I dont think it will improve his chances. He is such a dud as a character that without the power of the state behind him he is just an angry unpleasant man with no charm. By 2028 he will have been a private citizen for 2 years, out of being able to fight culture wars and so will have lost relevance and power.

What is the relevance of this comment suppose to be?

massive companies not being held responsible for the messes they make. they have so much political pull, it gets swept under the rug. Like tailings ponds which are left behind after mining operations have ceased. eventually something goes wrong and the public works are left dealing with it.
