Georgia is looking better and better.
Georgia 1% 50,000 votes left (approximately I guess) +13,219 Trump

McConnell has seemingly made allusions to wanting to move the party away from Trumpism. But they did this in 2012, concerned that somehow the party had turned Romney on the path to birtherism. They wrote their manifesto for how to turn back and then totally fucking ignored it when faced with the manifestation of what they were trying to run away from. We’ll see, but it could well come down to how difficult Trump in exile makes life for them.

Pennsylvania will go to Biden, or at least, this is the trend. And Georgia looks pretty certain for Biden. A positive for sure.

You make a fair point, so may I suggest another fair point?

Allow yourself a little smile because the fat orange bastard is about to lose, even as an incumbent, even with the courts packed in his favor, even with all the voter suppression tactics, even with Fox News, etc.

He is going to lose.

Yes, not by as much as we had hoped - but even then, when all is said and done I expect it will be by a significant amount.

And another thing to allow yourself to smile about… America is changing. Georgia being so close? Amazing. Ditto North Carolina. And the fact that we even briefly considered Texas as a maybe, for the Democrats, was incredible.

Trump has worn you down mate. But take heart. There are lots of people in America who have stood up to be counted, and he will soon be banished.

After that Biden will have a hell of a choice to make. To pardon, in the name of national healing? Or to allow justice to run its course and see Trump get what is coming to him, that has been so long overdue?

That’s for another day.

But allow yourself a little smile, and even an expensive Norwegian beer. Trump is a goner.

Cheers ! Yeah, you are right about relaxing a bit. I think I should. Quite tired of this in any case and yes, the mobster will lose indeed. Maybe a beer would indeed do.

I think the lessons for Dems to learn is the power of local organizing. Beto came up short again in Texas, but he has done amazing work down there. Abrams in GA and Ben Wickler in WA also. There is personal talent involved that makes what they’ve done not perfectly replicible everywhere, but it’s a model for how to organize in the state, either the party itself or technically independent GOTV efforts.

It is for us as well domestically. The executive branch has been utterly gutted in Trump’s time and this has directly contributed to our inability (of course, not the only piece) to respond properly to covid. Biden may bring in people whose politics some find disagreeable, but they will be people who know how to get the operation running again. I mean, I think about Jarrod and Rick Grenell running some sort of transition exercise for Ron Klain and Susan Rice and just chuckle at the absurdity of it.

That is fairly common, loads of jurisdictions allow private companies to keep their financial information confidential. No idea of Delaware was the first.

It is an interesting phenomenon - at almost any law school in the US, students doing corporate will study the Delaware code.

The real question is if Trump is going to poo in the Resolute desk drawers…

Erdogan reported to be in a meeting with his security council after it looked like Biden would win. This is positive. He must now at the very least change his calculus after January (perhaps before, he won’t want to anger Biden too much in the coming months either).
