Ding Dong.....the US Politics Thread (Part 1)

Many things remain an utter mystery to me. How to fold a fitted sheet for instance. Completely hopeless.

The key is not to learn. Once you learn, you’re dead.

Just for laughs

Elections jokes

Singaporean A: America is so inefficient, in Singapore, we know the results by next morning 4am latest…

Chinese B in Taipei: Our systems are better, we know by 9pm same day of election!

Chinese C in Shanghai: Our systems are much better, we know the results four weeks before the elections!

Russian D: Our systems are the best, we know who would win the day they put up the candidates’ names!

North Korean E: Our systems confirm the best, we know who would win on the day we are born!?

@Magnus is Russian D?

It’s terrifying that this is the state of US democracy, all jokes aside. NBC News cut away from him mid speech and fact checked that there is no evidence of anything he is alleging. It’s really bad. It’s really hard to stuff the sausage back into the casing once someone rips it out.

My maths on Georgia…

There are 18,936 votes left, apparently (NYT).

If Biden wins 11,211 of them he will be tied with Trump, who leads by 3,486.

11,211 is 59.2% of the remaining votes.

Biden is smashing that.

Georgia will turn blue.

Can you guys believe my doctorate is NOT in mathematics??

AZ tightening further.

You know, if there was massive voter fraud like these dopes are claiming… I’d hope the dems would be smart enough not to stuff the votes in Georgia of all places.

Sean Hannity just shamelessly switched from fraud in PA and Georgia to the exciting news that Trump is gaining ground in Arizona with mail in votes.

Has to be fraud in AZ. Stop counting. Null and void.

When I think about the Cuba Crisis, it is not the might of Fidel Castro’s Cuba that I think of.
The tension you speak of involved the downing of a US spy plane by the USSR, as well as later the downing of a US reconnaissance plane not far from Norway. It also involved strategic ballistic missile tests. All of this is before he came into power and happened in 1960. That there was mere tensions and not crisis isn’t true, Arminius.

You have either, dare I say it, forgotten how bad it was then, or you are underplaying those tensions that were there. When I studied the Cold War in college, Kennedy’s tenure seems dramatic to say the least and there was a very serious geopolitical situation when he came into power. I don’t think the corona virus can be compared to nuclear war brinkmanship and the extremely serious situation that existed between the west and the USSR.

Politically I can agree though, US society was less broken then and less divided, but the situation for the president, was more difficult for Kennedy, and in no way is the global situation as dangerous as then, corona or no corona.
