Why did Dom get booked when Emery was miles out of his technical area anyhow? He didn’t kick the ball away from Bradley he nudged it behind him and Emery was almost on the pitch and miles out of his area.

He stepped up this season. He was very good all along but this season, in terms of bad performances, he stepped up as a on field leader. Plenty to improve but he is on the trajectory of being a truly great player.

I’m seeing lots of comments online that Dom could be a future captain. There’s a lot of time to go before that decision is made, but I could see it.

If he could only sort out his finishing… Yeah, Curtois is to Liverpool a goalkeeping equivalent of Henry or Drogba but he should have done much better with that chance that Wirtz served him on a plate. Other than that, I’m afraid to say another word about his performance last night and this season in general.
Really? What else should he have done? He had less than a second to decide and would have scored nine times out of ten.
That’s football. Sometimes you do everything right and it bounces off the goalie’s boot.
I think the natural thing would have been to shoot to goalie’s left but his finishing in general hasn’t been as good as I expected it to be, watching his Hungary games. Hence Slot’s criticism of his numbers at the start of the last season. Hopefully it all comes together at some point but sooner rather than later. His overall quality deserves it.

It was a great reaction from Courtois, though you can have the best goalkeeper in the world who will still concede a good few of these and some worse goalkeepers who will save it. We’re talking tens of seconds and centimetres here.
I can’t really fault anything about our action there, but if we really want to be pedantic, perhaps a tiny bit sharper pass and a tiny bit sharper/harder shot could’ve resulted in a goal. There was another action when Szobo could’ve ended it better.
Other than that, yes, Szobo should be adding more numbers to his game. 7 goal involvements in 15 games so far this season is pretty good. A dynamic player like him, playing mostly with at least one or two midfielders behind him, the capacity to either press or constantly arrive close to the area, with the shot he has, should be in double figures of goals and assists.
He has his wonderful knuckle technique, but also try and play with your type of shots, put some variety into it.
Wow, the pass was perfect in weight, accuracy and timing, any sharper, which generally means harder and it would have missed the target.
