If that were the case then why wouldn’t we just negotiate with Leipzig directly on the terms of the payment? I’m assuming it’d be the buying club that sought after this third party and not the selling.
I’ve never seen much of a benefit paying more over longer in any aspect of life, unless you’re spending like crazy or can’t control your spending.
I thought he had brought the cups with him for a minute.

We offered Leipzig two installments and they flat out refused. Full fee, up front is what they insisted on. So we used a third party credit facility. They paid the full fee and we will pay them off in whatever installments were agreed.
Mo Chatra works for the Mirror I think, but he’s one of the solid ones who comment on football, especially the financial side.

That’s why you’re not running a successful football club.

Say Liverpool has a 160m transfer budget this year.
Wouldn’t it be better to have to spend 40m effectively for two players bought so far this year , leaving the balance amount for other players. Players who are all young , highly rated and very big ceiling.
This can be the difference between getting 3 players or 4.
Now I understand why Romano is first to get the news. He follows the van.
Well depends how much of that budget you’ll consume. Everybody has their own way of managing their money and that’s fine, I don’t take issue with how we want to structure the deal…main thing is we get it over the line but for me where I can, I don’t want to forecast something 5 months down the line when I could’ve paid it for for less earlier.
I saw that. I did a search to see if we were connected with him and I saw some vague musings back as far as 2021. However, this whole signing seems to have come from left field. That’s how we seem to roll.
Fuckin Scouserdamus over here….
My take is we are planning to do more business this summer, and using a third party to finance the Szobo installments gives us flexibility on one or two more deals, hopefully to come.
As to who, I wouldn’t know.
Lavia and Colwill would address homegrown, and as younger players they have loads of growth and upside to come. We have some old guard players they can learn from and replace.
Mac
Szobo
Lavia
Colwill
That would be an excellent summer. Just guessing though.
Won’t be easy getting them though. Homegrown players are at a premium.
I’ll be happy with one of the two (preferably colwill).
Yep, it will be tough. On Lavia, there’s less immediate need for him, and unless one or two of the old guard leave in midfield, we will be temporarily overstocked. Still, it would be good planning for the future. Lavia might be doable as other teams look elsewhere e.g. Arsenal put a lot of eggs into the Rice basket, after they seemed interested in Lavia.
Colwill is probably not doable, due to being owned by Chelsea. If it wasn’t for the emergence of Saudi Arabia as a destination for players, Chelsea would have felt a lot of pressure this summer, but the Saudis buying their squad men has helped them through a sticky situation.
Still, you never know.
Another possible might be Bella Kotchap. Young German central defender at Southampton, who looked like he could play a bit too.
Maybe we have some loaners to send to Southampton to help them, while we buy Lavia and Bella Kotchap?
Tough to know how it will pan out.
Oh crap, this is the Szobo thread. Er, good player that one. Handsome bugger too

Looks like we have a player who can score those out of the box goals

Possibly, yeah. I never looked at it as one of the main tools of a player, especially someone who plays in a part of the pitch where by default, you have to do multiple things well. You have to be good enough overall and then if you have quality shooting among your tools, great. Shooting merchants alone can’t cut it at our level. But I don’t think he’s one (already gave an interview once at Leipzig on that topic), also hope he doesn’t become too focused on numbers. Always needs to be some balance.
