Optus price increase is a bit of a drag. This is all becoming a costly exercise, it’s death by 1000 streaming service cuts!

Ended up getting Paramount for the FA cup final but didn’t turn it off. Keen to get Stan this season (survived on dodgy streams and free to air coverage of the final last season) but you need basic Stan plus the sport package.

If you are keen and want Kayo too for league cut you are looking at close to $100 a month these days.

Any other options?

Drop the league.
Yeah it’s a shame Optus no longer has the CL and has now increased prices but what was it a couple of years ago- like $79 or so for all pL and CL games for an entire season? - that was never likely to be sustained in a wealthy country like Oz given the prices paid the UK for their own league.

Thanks for clearing everything up all. Pretty pissed that we still have to sign up for multiple streaming channels to get the game, surely one of them should be able to bag the lot soon :rage:

Look up Showmax Pro and see what they offer in Aus. Over here in South Africa you can watch all comps plus have other sports and movies, series etc for the equivalent of about 40 Australian Dollars a month.

It is available in Aus but they say channel content may vary. But yeah, it might very well be what you’re after. Check it out.

Wtf is it with Aussies and Mullets?

Has nobody ever told them?

“Mum’s on the phone and Dad’s in the background going: ‘I better hurry up and eat my tea because the world’s ending’.”

“And Mum’s like: ‘What’s the point of eating your tea if the world’s ending.’”

Yeah, always felt the same, and my working life took me Overseas a lot,

Anyone flown to Aus with Scoot? How bad is it really?

It is the low cost arm of Singapore Airlines and as a Singaporean, I am damn proud of Singapore Airlines but for Scoot…I only flew once with them when they launched and I will never take them again. But objectively, there are plenty of good experiences from people around me. Some of the pros, newer planes like the dreamliners, hardware is good but as always with budget and low cost airlines, the real test is when something screws up with delays and rescheduling etc… but overall I think it is definitely still better than the low cost airlines in Europe generally.

It’s ok flying Easyjet within Europe, but from Europe to Australia?

Spot on.

I don’t mind flying budget airlines for shorter (3-4hr) flights, but having flown from London-China-Melbourne on Southern China a few years back, there is no way in hell I would do that flight on a budget airline again

Oh I don’t even know Scoot has a flight to other parts of Europe except to Greece. I personally would not take Scoot even for a 1 hour flight but that’s only me.

Edit: wow…I just checked and they do fly to London and Berlin already…

But yes I personally would not take Scoot myself for any sort of flights because my personal experience is so disappointing so my opinion is skewed. I would suggest watching some youtube videos on those review on Scoot for such long haul flights… I would always take Singapore Airlines anywhere as much as possible.

What about ScootPlus versus economy in traditional airlines?

I’m a pretty devout fan of Star Alliance airlines for their consistency of service. Air Canada being my home airline, have flown the ones in bold plus others like Malaysian Air (my first and still best international flight).

Air Canada:

Aegean Airlines, Aer Lingus, Air China, Air India, Air New Zealand, All Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Avianca, Brussels Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Central Mountain Air, Croatia Airlines, EgyptAir, Ethiopian Airlines, Etihad Airways, Eurowings, EVA Air, Germanwings, Gol Transportes Aéreos, Jet Airways, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Middle East Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, SriLankan Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, TAP Portugal, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines, and United Airlines.

its actually a pretty cool show that, seen a couple of episodes.

The thing about the aussie bogan - cf the english chav - is they have more fun because they have historically grown up with more opportunities in a much more egalitarian society. Beyond the climate and space, aussie bogans have a similar level of entitlement as most stray aliens. One of the strengths (and weaknesses) of Australia has been that a tradie who left school in year 10 is treated very similar to - for instance - an engineer or a GP - and is likely to earn as much and provide the same opportunities for their children as the ‘educated professional’. Education isn’t held in the same esteem (except by immigrants) as it is elsewhere. I expect this will change over the next few generations.

50% of Tasmanian adults are functionally illiterate? Fuck me. Thinking about it, it would have been much higher than that in the rural high school I attended. Most students (I would say about 70%) finished education at Grade 10 either being a full dropout with no plans for work, or had plans to continue on the family farm and making a living that way. That 70% was much higher for males. I was probably only 1 of maybe 10 that went onto grade 11 and 12, then even less onto University. And all those that finished at Grade 10 were merely going through the motions through the entirety of high school.
