Downunder Thread

In Thailand or Bali I can see what you mean, but I bet if you heard that accent in Norway or Patagonia you’d be pleased.
I was once on my way to a safari in Tanzania and we had to get in this really rickety old plane, basically a mini bus with wings and propellers. I was feeling really nervous about the whole thing until our fellow passengers reassured me with ‘She’ll be right mate!’ Somehow that Aussie attitude was the best cure. I don’t think there’s any other nationality I’d rather have been with at that moment.

Kiwis say downunder too in my experience. There are just more Aussies and they’re louder.

I didn’t say it was their best trait, just the best cure for my nerves at the time. They also have an intense dislike of posh English fops, so I don’t think Johnson would be welcome.

What about the other way? Is Tony Abbott a dual citizen? He would be a perfect fit for UK office.

Isn’t Julia Gillard Welsh?

We can ship her back as well

Good news. I hope they let non Aussies in by January. That would be great!

Good news for NSW.

Sadly Queensland seems like not letting anyone in anytime soon as far as I can gather.

Although it is tough to figure out as most QLD news websites a behind paywalls so without paying to some bastard media prick, most likely Murdoch or Packer both of who are total cunts it is hard to get full stories.

We are told that OZ is in rapid talks with rapid development for Quarantine free travel with Singapore but no dates set. I the the priority is still to ensure their citizens can freely return first.

I am also free to go to the UK without Quarantine but being still jobless and the amount of work and tests and elevated costs mean I probably wouldn’t go anywhere this far soon :unamused::unamused:

The opening up of the borders in November certainly has piqued my interest. I wonder if there are any tix to the Ashes still left?

As @aussielad rightly pointed out, it’s one thing to get into Australia, it’s another to get to the state that you want.

Tas was supposed to announce something mid October about their opening up plans but the mini outbreak in Hobart probably had delayed that.

They still have a target of 90% vaccinated before opening up. It’s worth remembering Tasmania has a heavily ageing population as it absorbs interstate retirees and losses is youngsters to Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Queensland is similar in it having an aging population as a lot of retirees go chasing the weather, but also have a large number of young families looking to relocate as it offers more active and outdoors lifestyle in the winter months due to our winters being far more plesant than Sydney or Melbourne.

Do Aussies really love drinking till they drop or it’s simply because it’s cheaper than water?

Reckon you’re right there.

Used to live off Anzac Parade in Randwick. Balcony backed onto the training grounds for the stables at the racecourse. Fuck me if those dressed up girls dont manage to stumble their way to the bus in heels quite elegantly with their fancy hats on. Gotta love a box of goon on a Sat afternoon
