I think New York and California will gladly take that step. They will also withhold the funds that other poorer states won’t get. Just wait until tornado season hits.

I don’t even understand what any of it has got to do with Truss! She isn’t a person of any consequence or office in the UK. Her brief stint in the spotlight ended in abject failure. Is she going to stump up a trillion for the American economy, like Trump asked the Saudis to do?

Does anyone in the MAGA sphere even know who she is?

Easier said than done is my guess…

Liz Truss should keep quiet, Badenoch tells shadow cabinet

Story by Ben Riley-Smith

image
Liz Truss has been back in the spotlight after sending a cease and desist letter to Sir Keir Starmer earlier this month over the claim she ‘crashed the economy’

Kemi Badenoch told the shadow cabinet last week that Liz Truss should keep quiet in public, The Telegraph understands.

Four sources in the meeting confirmed a comment of that nature was made by Mrs Badenoch, the Conservative Party leader, about her predecessor and the former prime minister.

The message Mrs Badenoch delivered was recalled by those present as “shut up for a while”, “stop making unhelpful interventions”, or a plea for Ms Truss to be less “vocal”.

A spokesman for Mrs Badenoch said she did not use the phrase “shut up”, but there was no denial that she had remarked on Ms Truss’s public statements.

The comment, said to have been delivered offhand by Mrs Badenoch, reveals the tensions at the very top of the Conservative Party about how to handle Ms Truss’s economic legacy.

Earlier this month, Ms Truss sent a cease and desist letter to Sir Keir Starmer over the claim she “crashed the economy” with her tax-cutting “mini-Budget” in September 2022.

Labour viewed the move as a political gift, with Sir Keir mocking the “green ink” letter at Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) and repeating the claim when facing Mrs Badenoch.

The remark by Mrs Badenoch was made in a meeting of the shadow cabinet held after that PMQs session on Jan 15, the day before she delivered her first big speech of 2025 and declared the party was “under new leadership”.

RW politics is increasingly becoming all one homogenized ball of goo and Trump is its center of gravity. Getting some of his limelight will put more attention on them back home than anything they can do domestically, and increasingly the voters they are appealing to all are aligning on the same talking points anyway (see @Cologne-Liverpool earlier comments)

This is surprising. With him getting this far without dropping out I assumed that was a reflection of the GOP just getting in line, but Susan Collins as come out in opposition to Hegseth’s nomination. I would be surprised if she made this comment without knowing she is about to cover from a critical mass

EDIT: Turns out that is unlikely. He gets the 51 approvals he needed to go to a final vote and its difficult to see any of the 51 GOP yes votes voting the other way in the final vote. So that means her and Murkowski out there by themselves opposing Trump’s pick, with Earnst, a formerly earnestly serious campaigner for eliminating sexual assault in the military, voting yes.

She’s a fucking grifter, in other words.

I’d pledge to vote Republican in 2028 if Trump could tell me which Paul brother is Logan and which is Jake without briefing.

I’d imagine Logan and Jake have at least a 25% failure rate on that question

Andy Ogles sounds like a silly nickname the female bartenders would give to the creepy guy who always shows up about 45 mins before closing.

Right, and I was just a hysterical Trump hater who shouldnt be taken serious when I said before the election that this was obviously going to happen if Trump won.

What was my magic to knowing this? They were all fucking talking about it openly, even Trump. Denying this would happen was pure heads in sand nonsense.

She’s boss. The woman has courage and can communicate, both of which the Dems are missing and don’t think they need. Hope she stays safe, dismantles seniority, and flips the table in 2028.

Dunno why he would stop; there, just have a ceremonial burning of the constitution save arsing about with the bits and pieces. Then hope that Emperor Trump is indeed immortal…now that would be a first!
