Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 2)

Goes wider than shipping though does it not? Anything heavy uses diesel. So Trump boasts about lumber. Well thats a diesel heavy industry right there.

My apologies, I didn’t mean shipping as in related to ships, I meant it more in terms of the general logistics industry (or whatever the appropriate term is, can’t remember it off the top of my head).

Essentially, diesel costs drive inflation up across the board. It’s a big factor behind the inflation of recent years:

The DNC are busy doing land acknowledgments and saying they need nonbinary people in leadership.

ITM they’re losing elections to people who are unfit for office, completely alienating whole swaths of the country, and gaslighting people with their moralizing virtue signaling and scolding everyone for not adopting their far left values even as they deny basic science.

America needs a sane Democratic Party. Otherwise, this is going to keep happening.

The Democratic Party does not represent the working class, or at least the white leadership does not. They represent the over-educated elites in academia and the media who promote an identity ideology.

When you lose 70% of the white working class, lose Hispanic working class men, and are bleeding African American voters, you can stop pretending that you’re for the working person.

The Democratic Party leadership and the progressives on the left are so so far from what they stood for even 20 years ago.

I think you’ve just inadvertently hit the nail on the head.

Somehow Americans have been brainwashed to think that anything that doesn’t support the interests of the straight white man (a minority, by the way), is somehow identity politics, as though it’s not identity politics to be focused on such a narrow group.

Non-white people at large, women, and genderqueer people are more likely than their white, male, and straight counterparts to be working class. They also face more structural inequalities. Yet somehow focusing on the straight white man isn’t identity politics?

What a joke.

If voters can be swayed enough by a scare video about those big bad transgender people coming after their bathrooms, who’s the one playing identity politics?

Might be a good idea if Canada sounds out some of the saner American states (West Coast + New England?) and see if they want to become part of Canada

They already froze all foreign aid, so I guess South Africa is on double secret probation

What do you suppose freezing foreign aid is about? It rather leaves the door open for Russia, China etc.

There’s never been more social progress than there has been in my lifetime. But it’s gone from being accepting of people to gaslighting people with obvious nonsense. I worked with a woman for over a decade who transitioned from being a man. Nobody cared. One of my best friends daughters is transitioning to a man. Good for her. But stop telling people to trust the science re Covid then completely ignore biological science and by saying men can get pregnant.

To most people outside of the extreme far left, this is utter woke bullsh!t. It’s not only hurting the left politically, it’s hurting trans rights because it’s such extremist nonsense.

The other issue is that Democratic politicians and the party as a whole are made to be responsible for what people on the internet do and say. Republicans are not even made to be responsible for what they personally do.

Some randos protest with a “defund the police” slogan that was never advocated using that language by more than a tiny fringe of the Democratic party, and 6+ years later the party as a whole is still being treated as if this was policy they implemented even though under Biden they increased federal funding for local police

Trump and his goons lead a riot that attacks and kills police officers doing their job. The party establishment then refuses to acknowledge it was a heinous and illegal act, and they still somehow get to the be party of law and order.
