Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 2)

While also firing a woman admiral, it must be noted. I wonder what the fired members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have in common?

The far left in America isn’t interested in winning elections

Hamas are awful, and should be eradicated. To do that properly, the conditions that lead to Hamas need to be addressed. The US does not have the stomach for that, and helps to make the situation in the region much worse.

Witness unrestricted American support for Israel, an apartheid state that is inflicting terrible war crimes on the Palestinians.

When Hamas killed 1200 and took hostages it was appalling, and Israel absolutely had the right to respond and defend itself.

What it did not have the right to do is wipe the Palestinians off the map. Many sober observers have talked about genocide and ethnic cleansing. It is shameful that tens of thousands have died, mostly women and children.

Trump has talked openly about redeveloping Gaza into some sort of desirable destination for richer people, with lots of beach front, condos, hotels, etc.

It is unconscionable that he talks like that about someone else’s home.

TSLA has retraced most of its post-election gain. DJT is now below its pre-election close.

It’s amazing how one can influence the outcomes of surveys by asking the right questions.

I wonder what the stats on the answers to “are you willing to support ethnic cleansing on the condition that President Trump can personally enrich himself as a result?” would be.

Not saying that’s what’s happening obvs, just a different way of framing the question…

You are entirely correct on this. It was a problem in that round of polling that has been doing the rounds and was shared here earlier.

Trump: [Outrageously lying] I cannot believe the Democrats tried to ban water
Pollster: Our results show 95% of people do not agree with banning water
News: Big support for Trump’s policies in our latest poll. Next at 6, what should the Dems learn from Biden’s failed “banning water policy”

Trump wants Keystone XL to be built. I have a load of South Bow shares, having been investing in TransCanada since the 1990s. Why in hell would he think a Canadian company would want to do a major capital project with an asset lifetime of decades that increases dependence on the US, when he is willing to engage in monthly brinksmanship while tearing up his own trade agreement? Any board that would even contemplate that would face a shareholder revolt, it is putting billions of dollars at risk of expropriation in a legal environment where the rule of law currently looks very shaky at best.

It’s John Spencer. I don’t know how much geopolitics you read, but he is the most famous Netanyau ass-rimmer on the internet when it comes to use of military force. He will go to EXTREME lenghts to justify absolutely everything operationally the IDF does and I no longer take him serious at all. Few does. He is a joke of an analyst when it comes to the Middle East.

According to Spencer, the IDF has been extremely cautious and relectant, as well as exceptionally noble, in how they waged the Gaza campaign, just as an example.

If you don’t believe me, then check his timeline. Then go down a year, just skim it. Or not. Better not. But you COULD do it.

Apologies for strong language. But some vulgar words are needed when it comes to Spencer’s pathetic starry-eyed takes on Netanyahu’s brilliance and the wondrous super humane acts of Israeli mercy in Gaza.

Pretty sure rich people can get themselves a green card for a lot less than 5m.

Abrahmovitch calling.

Indeed, wasn’t there a recent “gathering”, to which Farage contributed, on discussing how wealthy people can gain multiple citizenships and avoid taxes etc?

I think the other usual suspects were there too.
