Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 2)

Looking forward to the gymnastics of people who thought Hunter working in Ukraine was clear corruption (because relatives of people in politics are not allowed to have jobs) but that this is fine

Would love it, just love it… If Putin turned up at the White House in his ‘I Can Hear Ya, But I Can’t See Ya’ camouflage fatigues… just to see if that ‘Gobby’ shithouse eunuch Brian Glenn (boyfriend of Marjorie Taylor Green no less)… Is brave enough to say the same to him as he did to Zelenskyy…!

At this point, I think it is a more effective process to look at Project 2025 to find the steps that have not been implemented, rather than speak to the ones that have. Absolutely no one can say there was no warning that this was the intention.

This really is astonishing. Lutnick is simply saying that the only acceptable response to Trump’s imposition of tariffs is to smile and nod - even when those tariffs are a violation of existing agreements. Notable that he is praising the UK for doing nothing.

Particularly amusing that he suggests the motivation is electoral - the most strident reaction has come from Ontario’s Ford, who just won re-election two weeks ago.

Trump’s incoherence on Tariffs has been talked about a lot - they cannot be both a strategy to reshore manufacturing by making it too painful for businesses to make their stuff elsewhere AND be a source of needed government revenue. If you get one outcome you are necessarily not getting the other. So which is it?

Well, it seems this is so chaotic even his supposedly serious people cannot speak coherently about it

Is it a punishment to enforce a change in behavior, or is it no big deal? If it is no big deal then why are we doing it?

and that doesn’t even address the fact that neither of those are the basis of the authority he is using to invoke them - emergency powers. Apparently, drugs and illegal immigrants must be coming in through the Champagne region, because that is the authority he intends to use.

Is this all planned under the Mar-a-lago agreement ?

Seems like its being done on purpose.

That shouldn’t go down well with the US population. A revolution is only one missed meal away. How many evenings without a good Scottish single malt?

Scotland isn’t in the EU so it would only affect Irish Whiskey. Happy St Patrick’s Day!

This is a surprise. He was a shit pick for the job, but he was no more shit today than when he was nominated. Not much info available yet (that I can find at least) as to what sunk his nom.

We are coming up to the one day of the year I drink Guinness. I hope there is some at the liquor store near to my house, and I hope it’s not $50 a can now that Trump is going after European booze :joy:

The fella is an idiot.

All this talk of Canada, Mexico and Greenland…

Meanwhile, the Aussie/US relationship has just hit an all-time low.
