Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 2)

The evidence of the last few decades show otherwise.

And make no mistake, it’s not as though other countries are infallible either.

I’ve always felt that being devious is not a mark of intelligence… they are different, but as most people are raised in the hope they have a moral compass of sorts… Trump has zero empathy towards anything, unless it involves benefit to himself…
We are probably witnessing at this time in history… the worst specimen of a human being

Trump is bad enough, but the apparent inability of the rest of the system and society to deal with him is the ultimate disqualifier. Kind of easy to be brazen if you know you can get away with absolutely anything.

“Won’t happen to me”… “It will only affect others” etc.

Would be interested in seeing the source for this

Not before they rid the country of the scourge of trans girls competing in female fencing.

Regarding the idea of Trump playing the market - dont mistake some people being able to game the situation to their benefit for Trump having a clear plan to cause this. He is a moron who understands nothing and is notoriously susceptible to taking whatever position the last person in the room shared with him. People around him have surely been pushing him for weeks to not do this and finally someone found an angle to convince him not to in a way that made Trump think this was his idea all along.

And just to be that guy - Martha Stewart was not convicted of insider trading but for obstruction of justice related to a broader insider trading investigation.

Doesn’t specifically mention Trump, but this report does seem to show Marjerie Tayler Greene knew something . Buying Treasurey Bonds pre tarrifs announcement, then buying company stocks pre tarrif pause announcement. These sort of deals could be put down to speculation, but with her closeness and loyalty to the orange turd, I would bet someone was advising her on the timing of such deals - hence the insider trading accusations

I don’t doubt that closeness to Trump and insider knowledge can be and likely will have been used to make money, inside trading. Everyone knew tariffs would be coming, so that wasn’t a long shot, though knowing how ridiculously bad exactly that ‘Liberaton Day’ rollout would be would certainly help a bit. And it seems obvious that many people knew that Trump was at least thinking about a ‘pause’ (though technically it is really only a partial pause).
To me that is a seperate issue to whether Trump was/is doing this tariff nonsense with the sole intention of playing the market though.

Aye, WSJ has some well connected reporters claiming he simply got spooked by the Fox News coverage.

Yeah. My point is I think Trump honestly believes in tariffs but doesnt have the intelligence or the patience to do it properly. Yet somehow it was a clear market play and maybe not really about tariffs at all. Someone changed his mind somehow, probably by telling him how he could make a heap of money.

Several reports in the last day or so of Kash already being in trouble at the FBI because he simply isnt showing up to work

He’s probably just feeling gloomy at Liverpool’s recent results.

Also important to point out that despite the 90 day pause, we’re still way more tariffed than we were a few weeks ago

In news that should surprise no one, but will be ignored by MAGA morons who claim free speech is of high importance to them

I understand Sacks is a suck up, but what do these people think they can argue actually happened here? Or do they just not bother and think saying “art of the deal” is enough to justify this whole shit show as having been smart and successful?

I was going to ask how Trump’s action are not insider trading and very much illegal - then realized that the answer is it is insider trading and it is illegal its just that no one is going to do anything about it.

Can we skip to the part when him and his supporters drink the Kool-Aid and leave the rest of us in peace?
