This is the sort of content that makes people hate Dems and an example of how the hobbyist activist are self-defeating with this both sides bullshit that cannot see the differences between very very different things.
Obama gave him a medal because, as is always the case with a Dem president, the right smeared him with baseless accusations of having an open border policy. He therefore had a political imperative to promote that he did not. What he had was an effective policy that is consistent with what the overwhelming majority of the country say they want - an enforcement focus on violent criminals coupled with protections for other groups such as people who arrived as children and people who had been here without issue for a long-time. This is a 95-5 issue and treating all deportations as the same as what we are seeing now is brain dead nonsense.
To that point, there was no child separation policy under Obama and so no praise Homan could have received for it. The Trump admin tried to muddy the waters when receiving criticism for their âkids in cagesâ by suggesting Obama did it as well, but, unsurprisingly, that is bollocks. During Obamaâs term there was an unprecedented surge of unaccompanied minors arriving. The law requires they not be housed with adults they are not related to and we just did not have the facilities to deal with that so built temporary shelters to accommodate it - the âcagesâ. Trump purposefully separated families who arrived together, deported the adults and kept no records of who the kids were making it near impossible to reunite them with family. This was reported to be Homanâs plan, and was implemented specifically because the cruelty of it was hoped to be a deterrent. But that was a Trump era plan of which there was nothing analogous to it under Obama or Biden.

This chart is really illustrative. Annie Lowry is an economics writer, sometimes known as being the wife of Ezra Klein. She has been on this beat for a long time that essentially the post-covid inflation was the straw the broke the camelâs back coming on the back of a 2 decade long creep in the cost of essentially that was slowly making it difficult for working people to stay afloat

I look at that graph and health care is one that jumps out immediately to me. Disgusting that the cost of healthcare has increased by hearly 150% over the period of that graph and it isnt that big a stretch by any means.
What is striking about that is for all of the demonization of China, the highest inflation categories are in areas where import substitution is an extremely limited possibility. The areas that have declined most dramatically are export-exposed, and there are two intermediate groups that could plausibly be characterized as a function of export-exposure (public transport being the odd one out).

This guy is employed just to be the reflexive Trump defender. This would be devastating to this guyâs credibility if only he had any to begin with, and if his role wasnt already so well trodden by a collection of people who played it before him that it wasnât so easily identified so as to immediately ignore him in the first place

Pretty much, if it can be outsourced it has been. It would be interesting to see on that graph where wages (minimum, median and mean) have gone over that time.
I used Average Wage Index from the Social Security Administration to create this using ChatGPT
So in comparison, average wage rose comparably to medical care. And surprisingly more than Housing. But there are huge variations in that so not sure that is reflective of how people experience that.

I assume that by âAverageâ they mean âmeanâ which is not always the best measure. Median gives a good idea of middle incomes, and minimum shows the breadline.

And itâs not just CNN, American political commentators who are against Trump, strongly so as well; for some inexplicable reason do not realise that the outside world do not see US threats to invade Denmark and Canada as mere words that will fade with the US media cycle.
Those threats and uncertainty about NATO due to statements, are even worse than the tariffs; due to the extreme loss of Trust and uncertainty they bring.
When you threaten to destroy someone, to conquer them, it is rather a bit worse and creates just a tiny wee more resentment (and hate).
Tarrifs create material damage, material wounds. Certainly grievious harm for Canada, since it exports so much to the US. But the immaterial attacks, the threats, betrayals, uncertainty and the strong hostility; is what creates true loathing of the United States. This is certainly true for Europe. Of course, Europe less wounded by tarrifs than Canada, so maybe some Canadians will see that as worse, but the tariffs are certainly not the main problem europeans have with the Americans right now. Far, far from it.
