Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 3)

This is also another case of how their voiced complaints is never really about the thing they that is really aggitating them.

When it comes to Kimmel what he actually said was that it was bad that MAGA were so quick to ascribe motive and score political points on it when we still didn’t know much. But MAGA want, need, us to parse those words to understand his real meaning - passing blame off the left, victim blaming Kirk.

Yet when it comes to Kirk himself parsing his words is bad faith. He can talk about DEI being something that promotes undeserving, unqualified people. He can talk about the (black) people who are in positions of authority are DEI hires and de facto unqualified or not competent. But parse those words to say, quite reasonably, that what he is saying is that black people are not as competent a whites, and that is unacceptable. For Kirk you need his exact words, verbatim, to make a complaint.

The point is not about criticism of the words said based on clear objective view of right/wrong or decent vs indecent. It is only about who is saying them, and about whom.

Hope Clancy is a pretty catchy name that would sell in America (they like the name Hope, which everyone else thinks silly and not a proper name).

It’s rather reminiscent of those old statues of Lenin hailing a taxi, but in the style of the Pillsbury Doughboy.

Impossible because a significant part of MAGA’s view of the world is that Biden was President in 19-20

It really is a movement of brain rot. This is just one moron, but it’s an argument being made all over

Isn’t it insightful that none of the people complaining about this thing were complaining before about a completely different thing that you’d have to be a moron to not see the differences between.

I am also seeing they cannot decide whether the outrage is because he lied (he didn’t, some people just dont understand how words work) or because it was a bad taste joke (it wasnt a joke, it was a condemnation of political point scoring).

really is a movement of brain rot.

It’s been a massive problem for a very long time. It becomes impossible to discuss anything with once reasonable people who have ‘turned’ to the right. They seem to have lost any ability to reason.
Start chatting about something and suddenly they get their phones out and show you posts that on a subject that are ‘justified’ by something completely unrelated.
It’s completely crazy and makes debate impossible. There’s always another unrelated reason why Thier initial point is correct.
If you live under a broken media circus it must be even worst. At least here in France we have France Info/France24 if you can only rely on social media and nutcase ‘news’ channels it’s no surprise your brain is a scrambled mess.

10 years ago Apple refused to breach privacy and give the government the ability to access any iPhone.
2016 feels like a century ago.

They feel under constant attack, mostly largely because their phone tells them so. That’s why in their world the end justifies the means. I think.

Antifa means anti-fascist.

I am antifa, all my friends and family are antifa, and I hope everyone on here is antifa.

If you aren’t antifa, you are, by definition, fascist.

In fact, in Germany it’s compulsory. Strafgesetzbuch §86a makes refernce to the alternative.
