Yes there has been some atrocious and insulting videos produced in France by government agencies. Like a liberation of Paris parade, that never happened, with men in German helmets, Japanese flags flying from windows … all to celebrate a women in the resistance. Less than tasteless.

Politico have got access to a group chat among leaders of various Young Republican groups. I get they will say they were jokes made in private and dont reflect their real opinions, but when you live so much of your life so far over any reasonable line there is no way it doesnt become, at least a little, a part of who you actually are. This is the perfect illustration of the 4Chanisifcation of the right…and even more why normies have tracked right because if this is what young people are exposed to outside of politics, and then this starts becoming our politics…as Vonnegut said - we are what we pretend to be
Yet probably a 1/3 of people will see this and somehow believe both it is the left that went too extreme and also that this is also the left’s fault for driving people into loving hitler.

Popular attention in Maine on the left has focused on a new guy called Graham Planter who really is perfect for the moment. He isnt a lefty by any means but he’s hitting all the right “this is how the system is stacked against you” sort of angles that Bernie does, but in a "Im just a normal guy from Maine: sort of way that makes him feel like he’s talking sense rather than being a scary lefty.
But the party establishment wants nothing to do with him because Mills wants to run despite her being old enough that she would be the oldest ever first term senator if she won. She is a popular governor and under any other circumstances Dems would feel positive about this. But it’s all feeling so entitled and so orchestrated at the expense of hearing what the voters want. She is running because she cannot run for governor again so this is now what she is owed by the party, and damn if the leaders are not going to fight tooth and nail to give it to her and undercut Planter. People in Maine who would be inclined to vote for Dems are going to get the feeling reinforced that the party doesnt care about their vote or who they say they want to represent for them and end up feeling like it isnt worth voting.
Its shaping up to be a massive own goal.
