Yeah, this sort of positivity seems unproductiveâŚfalse hope. To me, it isnât remotely unstoppable. The Trump political movement justifies these actions based on a very specific view of the world and the circumstances. If you dont agree with that world view then yeah, this is all unacceptable. But there are lots of people who do agree with it and for them this is all very justifiable. Almost all of that worldview is bullshit and based on âfactsâ that simply arent true (e.g. treating border encounters as the equivalent of âan illegal Biden allowed to enter and live in this countryâ), but unfortunately there is always something close to a plurality of Americans who are amenable to believing the sort of worldview confirming nonsense that people like Trump spew. For them, they are in fact the good guys.

An example of what I mean by this is the insistence by many who are sympathetic to supportive of these immigration crack downs that the people being caught up in all of this are here illegally or have cause to have their status revoked due to violent crimes they have committed. Yet we know this is not what the Trump admin did last time. It is not what Miller has been widely reported as thinking their approach should be. We have had recent good reporting last week on him berating senior ICE officials for not meeting absurd quotas, firing leaders and then demanding they just go out and arrest pretty much anyone. This is the backdrop of what is happening now, and the context in which this new WSJ was just released

Yeah, and he holds more than most assume. Most of the people in Trumpâs orbit are posers. They can do damage by ignoring the actual responsibilities of the position in favour of an attention grabbing media tour, but Miller is powerful because he actually wants to do the job. He has a passion for using the government to proactively hurt people.
This is a perfect example. This is a Senate hearing where he already knows the questions and he still came in unprepared. This isnt some savvy strategy to avoid being pinned down, heâd just prefer spending his time talking nonsense on SM that doing the actual fucking job.
