This is just yet another example of how MAGA policy fails even when you only judge it on its own terms.
Sanctuary cities exist not to allow illegal immigrants free reign, but because communities are complicated with lots of second and third order effects. Arresting people at immigration hearings will make people stop complying with the legal process and disappear into the shadows. If you use local cops to enforce immigration rules entire communities will stop engaging with police entirely creating a pro crime environment. The ability of police to even police is obviously also hit if you repurpose people from addressing crime to becoming immigration enforcers, which Trump administrations have repeatedly done.
Even ignoring the concerns over the extrajudiciality of their approach, the indiscriminate way they are going about rounding people up does nothing than give them a cathartic release and seeing brown people be terrified. It does nothing to fix the immigration problem they claim exists and want to address and makes our communities actively less safe.

Somehow against my will ended up in a conversation with a bloke who informed that the riots are an invention of âHomo Left Green NGOsâ. Unfortunately he had no sarcasm or irony detection, so took my reply as encouragement. Fascinating stuff followed, apparently it all started when âthey took down John Wayne statues and replaced them with Rock Hudsonâ.

Similar conversation with Trump / RW supporting colleague at work. Completely oblivious to the real happenings in LA and Trump world. Iâll argue to a point, not my strong suit without thinking time, but I feel an awakening coming soon.
Then again, he admits to liking to argue, just for the sake of it.
