Sometimes what is good politics is also just the right thing to do.
Iâm surprised that Vance, and others, hasnât cottoned onto the fact that thereâs a golden opportunity to fuck Trump off right in front of them.
Just a reminder

we are really not at home to conspiracy theories and other nonsense about Jews and Jewish culture.

When talking about Isreal, please be clear that you are talking about Isreal and donât use shorthands or turns of phrase that could be interpreted as Antisemitic.
Thanks
I think they are aware that there is now a personality cult around Trump, and they probably need him to destroy himself rather than be the one who destroys him.
There have 3 or 4 occasions when those positioning themselves to be the inheritor of the movement have started moving against Trumpâs excesses and ended up getting slapped down. I mean, does anyone give a fuck what Ron DeSantis has to say about anything anymore? They are vultures waiting in the wings, but he is going to need to be near enough on deathâs door before anyone does something affirmative to try to grasp control of the movement
That would damage him as heir, I think.
One of the Epstein emails shows him claiming he has been advising one of Putinâs aides on how to manage Trump.
The email was sent a few weeks before the famous Helsinki meeting
(probably a nonsense article as Lewitt would likely not defend him in that way, I just cut it out because I found it amusing).
Anyway, I donât think this will damage Trump that much. Those who support him probably knows that his love life and sex life, is kind of a bit shady and I donât think they care that much if he had sex a few times with someone who was maybe 15-17, years back, while being in a position of great power and where the power structure was highly uneven. For them to care, i think it would have to be âproper pedophiliaâ with a child that is not sexually developed. I think itâs that bad, at least.
Also, many of his supporters will not believe this anyway.
Really important piece by Greg Sargant here
How you ask the immigration question, and what you ask, drastically changes the right interpretation of what public opinion is and when you dig into the specifics you always see people disagree with what they are led to believe the establishment Dem position is but agree with what the actual Dem position is. This is learned and unlearned over and over again.
As a individual politician trying to not get dragged down by this you dont need to jump to the right to support awful Trump shit, you just need to be willing to talk about the actual Dem position - strong border enforcement but with a pragamtic and humanitarian perspective on people who have long connection to the country. And couple this with reform to bring the laws out of the 80s and align them with the immigration pressures of the present time. That is always overwhelmingly popular. Dems just dont win on this message very often because they just refuse to stand up for it
Yeah, NewsThump is sort of a UK version of The Onion. Sometimes it is indistinguishable from actual ânewsâ sources.
I suppose the other one to watch out for is Private Eye, which looks like satire, but also contains a fair chunk of investigative journalism.
I didnât know that, but I am media literate enough to understand that the headline was off without actually having to read the article, haha
A huge element of his base has oppositional defiance. They dont have any center but just oppose whatever âtheyâ are saying is important and true. For them sex crimes was a core part of the coming together of the movement but it wasnt because of anything positive but because it was âthemâ who were perpetrating it. It was not about saving the kids, but punishing their enemies. The second the main stream press and anyone in the Dem party start talking about something that is aligned all of a sudden it becomes hugely suspicious to them. Their response will not be âgreat, a coalition of like minded people coming together to do something good for the childrenâ, but âwhat are THEY playing at? Who they trying to stitch up by pretending to care about this?â. Outwardly it will look like they flipped on a dime, but it really wont be that. It was just that the thing that occupied their attention was never REALLY the thing that motivated them.
The only incongruent thing about it all is that Trump, a billionaire grifter who is now a two term president who is recrafting the government into a form of monarchy, is still the outsider in their eyes and not in fact the establishment, the âthemâ, they have been so focused on opposing.
can someone explain something basic to the uneducated over here ?
why does there need to be a vote by the government representatives to release a file that incriminates? i can understand privacy laws, but wouldnt that be a matter for the courts and not the parliment?
There doesnât need to be a vote, but the Administration does not want to release those files. The House is able to compel that with a voted resolution.
Itâs a bit of weird situation.
Congress has oversight authority over the executive branch and, with certain security restrictions aside, has fairly broad authority to request documents from the executive branch to review. There is almost always push back and a fight to control how much access is granted but the congress does have the courts as an avenue if the executive branch is deemed to be non compliant. It just not a good avenue because the court is historically reluctant to intervene if there is any hint of politicization of the oversight and even if they do it takes a long time to resolve.
What weâre seeing now is congress taking an alternative approach to shake this out. They are treating it as a legislative matter, to make a law that the DoJ release the set of documents that has been requested. This vote isnt even about whether to pass that bill from the house, but a discharge petition that would force the House speaker to bring the bill to the house floor for a vote. So its a vote for the chance to have a vote. Not everyone who votes yes on this will necessarily vote yes on the next vote. So for this to work and the docs get released we need
- The discharge petition to pass
- the vote on the actual Epstein Transparency Act bill to pass the house
- The senate to pass the same bill
- The president to then pass it into law
- DoJ to comply with the new law
The likelihood here is this is more a messaging bill than something that has a chance of getting the information requested. The best that comes from this is the people who block this with their vote get put on record for doing so. Shit, that may end up even being Trump himself vetoing the bill.
The Deputy AG accidentally publicly accusing a party of a crime, and describing the act, on a case in which he has direct involvement.

Operation Overkill would be a more honest name for this.
Or
Operation Epstein Shall be Forgotten
The other sleeper would be that sooner or later the shit will hit the fan, and his name will be shit forever, he is already regarded as the worst POTUS,this would rubber stamp it.
