Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 3)

Agree.

Agree, at least for the first occurrence. Unfortunately I think we are on an escalation only path.

Don’t think so, unfortunately. So many lines already crossed without a murmour from republican deplorables, no way a groundswell to impeach because of ICE fights - if anything can see the deplorables actually cheering it on (initially).

A Canadian columnist (Coyne, generally seen as coming from the right) has coined a phrase that in just a few days has become Ottawa lingua franca.

In place of Occam’s Razor (the simplest explanation is the most likely to be correct), for the US he now suggests Occam’s Kazoo (the stupidest explanation is most likely to be correct). For example, the US kidnapped Maduro because…Maduro mocked Trump’s dancing

I posted a few days ago about potential boycotts for the World Cup. Half-seriously I wondered out loud if South American teams might boycott due to Venezuela, and European teams might boycott due to Greenland?[/quote]

I’ve been thinking about Greenland in a similar way, i.e. how it might lead to Trump’s downfall.
If the US were to seize Greenland militarily and if Europe were to respond by sending ships to defend Greenland, that could result in US forces firing on the Europeans.

I would hope that that would compel the more sensible Republicans in Congress to turn against Trump and impeach him. In that Greenland scenario, I wonder if the military top brass would follow the orders to fire on their European allies?

Might be onto something there,he was pissed off and he is really a massive egotist.

I am just glad New Zealand does not appear in his map

It never does. It’s probably why it’s full of wizards and hobbits.

I wish i could go New Zealand and hide there for a few years until the orange blob has gone.

Now, Elon Musk has put an inciteful tweet to the UK citizens to fight go out on the street for their country.

He needs to be reported to the metropolitan police.

Elon Musk is a fuckwit! (IMO before he sues me!)

he never tweets about x been banned in Russia or the censorship in Russia

furthermore…

he’s like a spoilt mischievous child tweeting from his bedroom to shit stir!

It is even worse. Apparently trying to block creating sexualised photos of minors is censorship.

No you fucking wrong’un, it is called pedophilia

Considering his dad’s history, the pedophilic apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

And he is right. It is censorship, but I guess I’m not libertarian enough to think censorship is always wrong.

Well @Maria - if your passport doesn’t stop you going to the wedding in America… I’m sure this quote will most certainly stop you getting in :0)

I’m interested to know…would TAN count towards my social media presence??

I’m assuming the NSA could set its computers to scanning the net and linking our posts on this place to each of us quite easily?

Are they going to those lengths?

Yeah. It’s seemingly being done by Palantir, which is an AI company so it’s not like they have a boffin in a basement having to manually search

Everything you do or say on socia media is being stored today, wherever you live. The infrastructure for this is owned and controlled by US tech companies such as Palantir. They have security clauses but if the US government or security agencies demand your information, do you really think they would be turned down? Scarily, the mandatory national Identity Card scheme currently being rolled out in the UK (it is already operating, you just haven’t got the card yet) will also store all your most personal information from health on down on Palantir servers. A sobering thought.

The stark truth is that this is a dangerous time. The US will carve up and dominate the Western Hemisphere, and there is little we can do about that. This is highly likely going to involve taking Greenland off Denmark, which will kill NATO.

For us in Europe, the most pressing concern is that it is going to become extremely difficult stopping Russian land grabs and being humiliated and dominated by the Russian Empire.
Meanwhile, China will be free to dominate Asia.

It’s extremely alarming this, I don’t see how we can achieve stable relations and peace with Russia without being strong enough to halt their advances.

We are moving into the territory where the world is carved up distinctly in 3 main areas of competition, and we in Europe is in one of them now without the US and it’s looking very fucking grim.

But I read something above about the US being a bigger threat (for us in Europe) than Russia, and that is of course absolute nonsense. The US, imperial or isolationist, will seek to establish their Sphere of Influence over the Americas. This is however a massive concern for Canada (ideally we would be united of course), but for us in Europe, the real security threat remains Russia and it is extremely foolish and stupid to forget it for even a nanosecond. It is Russia invading us now at this very second, and it is Russia we have problems actually stopping, not US armies in Ukraine. And it is Russia we fear will continue after they have achieved a victory in Ukraine. Never fucking forget.

US foreign policy alligning with Russia is rather the key concern for us…

Amazing to me that the UK is willing to move forward with Palantir. The US tech companies have all more or less conceded that when push comes to shove, they will not respect sovereignty.

Good grief, there is footage of two ICE agents in Minneapolis slipping and falling on an icy sidewalk - which sets off one of their firearms. Absolute clowns, and they are lucky not to have been hit.
