Yes, but only after you eliminate the undeserving
DHS were celebrating last week reaching a hiring milestone for new ICE agents months ahead of schedule. That is the context in which this story was released
This may seem like a stupid question, letâs face it, it wouldnât be the first, but has ICE agent Jonathan Ross been arrested and charged?
I googled to find out, but all I got was the information that a bunch of sick right wingers are sending him money and that the FBI are investigating Renee Goodâs widow.
Well thereâs your answer ⌠and he canât be charged anyway because Vance said heâs got âtotal immunityâ.
Generally it requires the Feds to criminally investigate action from Federal agents. Itâs not impossible for the state to do it, but Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension have publicly stated theyâve been blocked out on this one and so have no capacity to move forward even if they wanted to. I posted earlier this week about exits at DoJ in the civil rights criminal division over their lack of interest in pursuing this.
Well Iâm no legal eagle, but a woman was shot and killed in a video that has been seen by just about everyone in the world and the murderer is walking free.
That seems a little puzzling.
Does it though? Theyâre throwing even more âagentsâ on that city (and others), harrassing people. Quite obvious they want this to escalate further.
The bar for criminally prosecuting cops is really high. The benefit of doubt required by what they call the âreasonable officer standardâ means even when they act in violation of guidance and regulations, and when you have evidence they were not acting as a reasonable officer (such as referring to the person you just shot as a âfucking bitchâ right afterwards), it is still really hard.
This is largely what the defund the police movement was about, not eliminating policing in general (yes, I know its a terrible tag line)
It could be said⌠Locking up that ICE guy Ross puts him in a safer environment. The way it is, him, his family and anyone that calls him a friend, will be walking a daily gauntlet of hate from all directionsâŚ
Like with all the actions from ICE, it would likely be retrospective actions taken against them if the GOP ever lose power down the road
Does anyone seriously think Trump and his cronies give a shit about the safety of these âagentsâ? Letâs get real, theyâd love nothing more than for people to snap and create martyrs on their side. The people really high up wonât get touched, as always.
The data leak exposing personal details of all the ICE agents will eventually have an impact. Once their actions on the street come back to bite them through their home life, and nearest and dearest, it might be the only thing that makes them think twice before behaving like animals on the general populace.
It is not about whether the Orange Ogre gives a shit about them, it is about controlling their behaviour towards the people. If that Ross guy ends up walking through hell every single day from now on, then surely that plants a seed of doubt in the minds of other agents that could/would act in a similar fashion.
They may be protected by Government, but they are not protected from the people
Yeah, the chief of police in Minneapolis was commenting the other day that things were pretty precarious for them in the wake of the George Floyd death and they have put a ton of effort into trying to rebuild a relationship with the people of the city. He said that was required not just for effective policing to be possible, but to create a safer environment for his officers to do their jobs, and with this ICE/DHS invasion all that work is being undone. But you know, the party doing this are the ones who âback the blueâ
Iâd think that would just send them on a killing spree. It seems obvious to me they are on power trips and any excuse to go further will surely be laped up. Oh! They will also cry that they are being unjustly treated however that will be fake as they revel in their vicious circle of ever increasing violence.
Yeah you are right in a fashion, but there will be ripple effect for anyone, or anything connected to an ICE agent. Their kids getting hassled in school, wife getting hassled at the shops etc etcâŚ
The law is on the side of these fuckers and people on the street canât go against that, but hounding their families and once peaceful existence can help bring about a mindset change in these agents⌠especially if their personal details are on the web for all to see
Not only has agent Ross not been arrested or charged but the Department of Justice, wholly owned by the Trump adminstration, has officially declined to even open an investigation into his murder of Renee Good. This led to the resignations of at least four top officals at DoJ, who have simply had enough.
I would like to emphasise that Ross is an immigration agent and NOT a cop. The distinction is important because an ICE agentâs jurisdiction is limited solely to upholding immigration law and US borders. A police officer is responsible for upholding ALL law, including detecting crime, protecting life and property and most importantly in this case, maintaining public order. Renee Good was blocking a public highway and that is a matter of public order. ICE had zero jurisdiction in the incident which meant she was entirely within her rights to drive away.

Whistleblower drops âlargest everâ ICE leak to unmask agents
A Department of Homeland Security whistleblower has released the identities of about 4,500 ICE and Border Patrol employees Tuesday in what has been called potentially the largest agency data breach for the department.
The killing of 37-year-old mother Renee Nicole Good by ICE agent Jonathan Ross last week in Minneapolis has prompted the leak of personnel date to the ICE List, an online database created to promote accountability by the masked federal agents, according to a report from The Daily Beast.
The onslaught of national outrage reportedly led to the major leak.
âIt is a sign that people arenât happy within the U.S. government, clearly. The shooting [of Good] was the last straw for many people," Dominick Skinner, ICE list founder, told The Beast.
Information included in the new leak includes around â1,800 on-the-ground agents and 150 supervisors. Early analysis by the organization suggests that around 80 per cent of the staff identified remain employed by DHS,â according to The Beast.
The first batch of names was slated to be posted on the site on Tuesday night.
Members of the public have reportedly also shared information about agents in hotels and even neighbors.
âIâve had hotel staff sending post-it notes, bar staff sending DHS IDs, and loads of people saying their neighbour is an agent,â Skinner said.
Skinner told the outlet he was working to verify the names.
âICE and CBP are in clear need of reform, and I believe working for either is a bad move on a moral level," he added.

Maybe youâre right. Might work for some people. Could also have the opposite effect, especially with the kind of people/personalities they are recruiting. Might make them even more hostile and paranoid, even more âus vs themâ.
Yeah, itâs a cliche, but its very much been a homelander murders protestor and gets celebrated moment for them. They are emboldened by the response not cowed by it. There was video from the day after of another agent confronting a woman on the street saying âhave you not learned your lesson?ââŚthey think the incident was one to teach the public lessons of lines not to cross, not one for them to learn how to conduct themselves better.
Jesus christ
He is a minor and US citizen who was beaten up by ICE and arrested by ICE for filming them and in the process lost the phone he was using to film them.
It seems to suggest that ICE took his phone and then dumped it in a recycling machine, right? Unreal. Does that not constitute theft or criminal damage? Not that ICE gives a shit but why do it if you arenât planning to use it as evidence. Just a gratuitous piece of thuggery.
