Of course it is proof of their ignorance however no where near the ignorance they are capable of.
I mean it could be a kidnapped puffin however more likely a kidnapped child by ICE in silly clothes (supplied by unwitting parents).

It does look like an emperor penguin so there might be a subliminal message there as well.

Prince Harry might need to be careful, weighing in on condemning Trump’s comments (they were of course disgraceful, as so many things are about him).

A while ago Trump name checked Harry as someone they might need to look at to kick out of America. Harry’s self-confessed drug use in his book was at odds with his visa application of being squeaky clean, and he could be kicked out for lying about drug use and obtaining a visa/immigration under false pretense.

Trump, in his addled mind, liked and respected the Queen, so when she was around Harry was safe. Him going after Harry would be another distraction (a very minor one compared to other things he is doing) away from the Epstein files.

It is Saturday, so Trump is threatening us with 100% tariffs again…

Could we do a swap deal with Andrew? I’m guessing he has a lot more in common with Trump.

Trump sounds scared of China there. And Canada have done a very wise thing. America is so unreliable under Trump that you have to look to your own interests and forging an agreement with China is a clever move.

I fully expect Europe and China to do a lot more business as we go, too.

Again and again. this Administration ignores the consequences of their own policy. They have repeatedly said they don’t want Canadian manufactured products coming into the American market, but do want energy, commodities, etc. If that is the end state they are working toward, there is not a great deal Canada can do about that, but there is no particular reason why we should be driving GM and Ford vehicles, or Teslas. At the same time, a 100% tariff on potash will be crippling for American farmers, who are already on the ropes. If they don’t use Saskatchewan potash, the Russian potash they have to substitute has to be sailing by mid-February.

I’m wondering if this is the area that breaks the support for this governments policies? I understand that costs are hiking at a pretty hefty rate and the upcoming storm will lock in further increases for at least 12 months.

Going after Canada, just opens up them up to more pain in that.

Big picture, right now a stunning amount of the American economy is based on rich people spending money they made on the stock market, with a very large proportion of that being driven by AI stocks. Leaving aside the fact that uptake for AI is not where it was expected, the energy infrastructure for the projected growth simply doesn’t exist. The US is basically locking in energy demand that is growing faster than their economy. Events like the storm and likely rebuild costs pale next to that underlying dynamic.

There are already reports that powerlines in Texas are ‘galloping’, so obviously they have done almost nothing to address their vulnerability. Just blamed wind turbines (which actually dropped less than natural gas generation) and moved on

Why do I have a feeling that’s the end goal?

Maybe it is, but their potash won’t produce the same output (lower quality natural deposits) and with additional shipping costs it actually needs significant tariffs simply to compete. Either way, American farmers face higher input costs.

Meanwhile, I don’t think Saskatchewan is particularly worried about selling their production - not least because China is a massive importer despite being a major producer.

Friday night shit-posting is normal…last weekend was Europe, so it was going to be us next. Expect China next weekend

That was my first thought. It is exempt from sanctions but still politically difficult to look to when such a good supply is available from a close ally.

Russian production is mostly just west of the Urals, and I would assume would probably be exported by way of the Black Sea. Russia has been targeting Ukrainian grain traffic and shipping capacity, I doubt Russian potash shipments would get a free pass.

Holy fuck, I won’t post it, but I just saw a video of ICE shoot dead a guy they had at the bottom of a dog pile. 5 or 6 guys on top of him beating the shit out him then one bullet in him from point blank range

People compare ICE to the Gestapo, but the better comparison is about a decade earlier. The US is under the boots of the American freikorps, violent, disaffected young white men given free rein.
