That was my first thought. It is exempt from sanctions but still politically difficult to look to when such a good supply is available from a close ally.

Holy fuck, I won’t post it, but I just saw a video of ICE shoot dead a guy they had at the bottom of a dog pile. 5 or 6 guys on top of him beating the shit out him then one bullet in him from point blank range

it sounded like a single shot was fired from an officer
then another officer pulled his gun and another 5 shots (at least) were fired
from both officers with guns drawn

Maybe it is, but their potash won’t produce the same output (lower quality natural deposits) and with additional shipping costs it actually needs significant tariffs simply to compete. Either way, American farmers face higher input costs.

Big picture, right now a stunning amount of the American economy is based on rich people spending money they made on the stock market, with a very large proportion of that being driven by AI stocks. Leaving aside the fact that uptake for AI is not where it was expected, the energy infrastructure for the projected growth simply doesn’t exist. The US is basically locking in energy demand that is growing faster than their economy. Events like the storm and likely rebuild costs pale next to that underlying dynamic.

There are already reports that powerlines in Texas are ‘galloping’, so obviously they have done almost nothing to address their vulnerability. Just blamed wind turbines (which actually dropped less than natural gas generation) and moved on

I also heard that the US has recently drawn down on its storage of natural gas to a level not seen before. That’s before the storm hits.

People are getting hit from all angles on this.

Which even if true is not illegal in MN and so not grounds to defend this. But this is precisely in incoherence of the gun rights groups’ arguments. I need a gun to legally defend myself, but if I have one someone else can legally kill me just for having one

13 shots in total, and reportedly they had already taken his legally carried firearm off him - but will undoubtedly still call it self-defence.

I’ve just written to my Governor and both State Senators but I did that after Renee Good and didn’t even receive a response. Our Government is completely absent while a mad-man sets his own personal army against the American people.

The only positive to take from it is that normal Americans have been remarkably restrained in order to not give this President what he wants - a violent reaction that he can then “crackdown” on but it looks like he’s decided he’ll just do it anyway since he isn’t being held to account by anyone.

The media still call him “Sir” for fucks sake.

It’s already started. My writing to all of them is that “not assisting” ICE isn’t good enough. Ice needs to be arrested if they break the law and the Senators need to be in Government now getting lesgislation through to dissolve the organization.

They won’t because they’re all cowards who only think of their own self-interest but the only voice I have is contacting them.

I’m sure Susan Collins is very ‘concerned’ about it all (while voting to approve increasing their budget again).
