Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 3)

Who asked for this?

I’m guessing that it is both a vanity project, and also a way for Bezos to pay tribute to Trump (in the original meaning of the word).

What I don’t understand is why they are playing it at multiplexes, particularly outside of the US. They are just setting themselves up for humiliation. I could see it if they were showing it in selected theatres to MAGA faithfuls, but this is giving the general population the option to snub them en masse.

They have an infrastructure to pump money into propping up these sorts of projects to make them seem more popular and culturally relevant than they are. Books that no one actually reads hitting the best seller charts because some Kock funded group has bought 100k copies. It’ll be harder to do with a film, because you can see people not showing up, but that just turns into a he said-she said debate

So basically Kock-suckers

This from my SM:

Genius :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
ā€˜ Greg Bovino was asked how he felt about his demotion today. ā€œWell, obviously, I’m not happyā€, he replied. Someone in the crowd shouted back, ā€œSo which one are you?ā€

A funny Greg Bovino comment I read - He is the 1/3rd Reich :0)

I actually hadn’t seen the images of him in that trenchcoat until yesterday. These people really don’t do subtle.

So disrespectful.

Dwarves deserve far better than this.

Yesterday at a public appearance a man attacked Ilhan Omar, a Somali immigrant and MN representative. He charged the podium, screaming at her and then sprayed some as yet unknown ā€œfoul smellingā€ liquid at her from a syringe (you can see in his hand in the image below), but was restrained before he could reach her.

Trump, who earlier that day had gone public with a Biden era DoJ investigation into her about her finances (increased significantly according to her public disclosures after marrying a rich guy), something that without finding any reason to pursue it or charge her, as the DoJ concluded, should have been kept private. Instead Trump used this investigation to smear her and, seemingly, tie her to the supposed problem of Somali fraud in the state of MN. When asked about this attack Trump said he knows nothing of it but suggested she probably did it to herself.

So, about the need to tone down the rhetoric on political violence? Related, I wonder why Trump’s first instinct would be accuse a politician of fabricating an attack on themselves for PR purposes…

Gosh, I wonder why that would be top of mind for him?

In the current context, that assailant is lucky to be alive. Lethal force in the first 30 seconds would be very hard to characterize as unjustifed.

edit - your add-on picked up my first thought

He is so comically transparent.

ā€œyou know, a lot of people dont know thatā€ā€¦said about some generally well known bit of information that he clearly just learned of 2 mins before.

Every accusation is a confession

Ben Terris of NY Mag got an interview with him that was published earlier this week, and its full of implied contemplations of impending mortality. Not just from Trump personally, but from people speaking about Trump’s state of mind and perspective. Of course, no one seriously thought Trump put any time or effort into the job, but he is seemingly doing even less so now and instead focusing only on things he thinks a president’s legacy is based on…hence monuments, White House additions, even acting on some ways he cannot really describe but so that people can refer to it in future as a Trump doctrine.

This follow up interview with him is seemingly not paywalled and will cover the bases

This is chilling. Reports emerged yesterday that only a week before his death Pretti had his ribs broken in an earlier confrontation with CBP agents which resulted in his name and photo being put in a database of people of interest.

So I get it’s a bit conspiratorial to think they knew who he was and had identified as someone to deal with prior to engaging him, but isnt that the entire ā€œconspiracyā€ behind these fucks using Palantir? Isnt the end game of flagging these people then being able to track them down through digital records and signals like cell phone data?

But, ok. That’s conspiratorial. But this…the woman they crashed into in Chicago several months ago, then shot multiple times, prosecuted her for attacking them only to see the case thrown out in court as utterly disproven by the evidence…she had similarly been flagged in this system shortly before that confrontation

Honestly don’t think he gives a fuck about his family staying in power after his death. He has them around now because it benefits him.
As far as he is concerned, the world ends when he dies.

Well, he would know all about that

Vance is awful, no qualms about that from me.

Arguably, if it moves to Vance he won’t be able to hold MAGA together. There are various factions, and Trump, as a Godfather sort of figure, keeps it all together (there are plenty of signs that is waning).

Anyhow, I see a future Republican tussle, at the least between the likes of Vance and Rubio, probably several others. The splintered group will give the Democrats every chance to come to the fore and hold sway.

It won’t immediately change the underlying causes that have caused MAGA, but potentially it would offer some respite that might bring change for the good.

We’re not there yet though …
