As for the coat, I have a really good looking one too, which I bought on Wacken Open Air in 2002.

I specifically did not want to buy a nazi era coat, and asked for a West German one. However, 2 year after I did some repair on it at a shoemaker (because it is specialised clothing), and he looked at me and told me uncertainly that “yes, it’s a nice coat this. They sure made quality”, before he gave me another odd look. I then found the emblem in the inside and it is of course a Waffen SS coat.
Mine had belonged to some Major Manfred Schmidt, according to the stamp on the inside (the reason I some how missed that is that there is a name tag and stamp with the Reichsadler and year of making, in the chest pocket on the inside of the coat, so I was blissfully unaware for quite some time, as I had been told it was a motorcycle coat from the West German army).
Then came Der Untergang on the cinema, I used to wear the coat back in those days. Heavy Metal and Rock n’ Roll you know. However, as I sat there in the cinema in the coat, I noticed that the SS doctor (the symapthetic one) had the exact same coat, which was super embarrasing for me.
So I haven’t really worn it since Der Untergang. Maybe once since 2003. But yeah, stopped wearing it in public.
But it is a for sure nice coat. 3 silk layers on the inside (several layers of leather too) and I payed almost nothing for it. Absolutely amazing coat but it’s been in my mothers closet for decades now. I am kind of too old to get away with wearing it in public anymore I reckon.
But…I still like it. And I always will. Shrug.

Remember, Trump is a populist who cares about the working man. Every once in a while he has to say some half-brained, low-commitment thing that offers something to his working class support to bolster that idea, and this is one of those things he’s been spitballing for a while.
That’s absolutely chilling - its only a tiny step to go from there to a ‘do X or ICE will come and track you down’. And thats nominally what he’s allowing to be said to his supporters.

With him, yes. It sounds quite similar to the Child Trust Funds that Gordon Brown set up in the UK when he was chancellor. They weren’t exactly the brightest idea but they were intended to be an ongoing thing although were ended by George Osborne, whereas the Trump ones end with his presidency. Looks like an attempt at bribery on that basis.
If it involves Trump, I think it is safe to say it most probably is a scam

Many on the right think they are simply supporting an attempt to end an Open Borders policy. But no Dem actually operates with any such policy and the idea is only a fringe one even on the left. The problem is when you put such energy into rhetorically opposing an immigration policy that doesnt exist, and use lies to justify a crack down it was only ever going to go in one direction. This lawlessness and lack of regard for constitutional protection, not to mention the lack of humanity was entirely predictable and is what the opposition from the left has always been about. Situations where deportation and border enforcement metrics are indistinguishable between an Obama admin and a Trump admin only looks hypocritical if you live in the make believe world of what Dems actually believe about immigration and the border. It is entirely reasonable to believe in robust border protections and effective enforcement of immigration laws while also supporting the sort of humane statutory updates present in the Dreamer Act.
