Ah you beat me to it
Barrel prices are far more driven by speculation than pump prices. Pump prices obviously have to factor in the input cost they actually pay, but after that they move around to balance out storage, production targets, and regional stocks. At the retail level they are really trying to keep a steady flow, but also never run out.
That is why some fairly isolated markets see some disproportionate swings. One of Vancouverās major refineries was offline about a year ago, and the local market took all summer to balance. @Semmy can probably tell you how much he enjoyed that.
In the US, most of the red states are essentially the Houston market, which is so big that it is more predictable. The upward pressure on WTI hits the pump about 5 days later. Monday morning fill ups for F150s are going to make a lot of MAGA angry
Ok article on Hegseth.
I quipped to my wife that petrol prices will be a dollar a gallon more on the way home from our long weekend roadtrip. Might not be too far off.
On a completely unrelated tangent, I understand the American psyche when it comes to gas prices. I have remarked many times that in casual conversation they talk about the price of gas in the way that people would comment on the weather, back in England.
But my comment is that people are complaining about the wrong thing! Variable Gasoline prices for an average individual might put a hole in your wallet to the tune of maybe $100 a month, and there is widespread outrage over that. Meanwhile, healthcare costs are an order of magnitude greater, but relatively speaking there is not nearly the outrage, and people put up with a broken system that is costing them far more. ![]()
Can"t say I am in any way surprised at that moronic dribble from Hogsbreath, that kind of tripe seems to be par for the course from those the Mango Moron surrounds himself with. All to avoid him looking bloody stupid, but to no avail, that appearance is not about to change.
Although it would be nice if a lot of world leaders didnāt see the need to crawl around him, that is nauseating!
I wish it wouldnāt be called extraordinary, itās unhinged, stupid, twattish, utter bollocks all of those. Itās not extraordinary and not only that itās a 100% incorrect as the British are putting in operation one and it is about defending not joining their 5 day war thatās already last 7.
Itās been given far too much attention in the press here. More throw away, incorrect crap from Trump. Ignore it and report about the stuff that actually matters. Heāll be back to wanting to be BFFās next time he needs something.
Heās taken seven different positions on Chagos in the last 2 months.
I think people giving him less notice would be better.
I am not a decorum scold, but I am aware enough of expectations to know how Republicans and MAGA would at least pretend to be offended if a Dem showed up to a dignified transfer for fallen service members wearing a fucking baseball cap like Trump did yesterday
Fox News responded to this trying to head off criticism of him by showing old footage in which he wasnt wearing a hat
Kosovoās secret plan of world domination continues.
Does make me wonder if they want to trash the earth so no one inherits it.
Fox got called out.
No more āDrill baby drillā
Yeahā¦that was April of last year, when most shale plays were underwater against a WTI that dropped below $60. It is over $90 now, also thanks to Trump chaos.
Alberta was staring down a massive deficit (oil royalties are a key source of government revenue), they just need a couple of months of this.
Bummer, Iāll crack this social media thing one day.
If Trump is hellbent on fucking the world up, why doesnāt he concentrate on the country that elected the arsehole, first?
Apologies to the millions who didnāt vote for him, they donāt need him either.
After he sorts out Cuba, where next? he isnāt happy with Starmer,or will it be back to making Canada,or Greenland #51 again.
We know he is a lunatic but why constantly confirm it?
