While I agree with you regarding Trump, the climate of mis-info and far-right propoganda that led to him would have existed anyway. He’s just the first person to take this much advantage of it.

On the one hand, that is very difficult to do - particularly as customers of American technology.
On the other, the fact that Trump was elected for a second time really points to the fact that in this era, other countries need to find economic alternatives that are permanent.

Yes. Decouple from US tech, weapons and media companies. Total boycott of Israel, beyond even the South Africa sanctions. Switch to renewable energies in all possible fields. Creation of independent EU military with strong alliances with Canada and Australia.
All of these have to be the lessons of this shitshow.

Spot on,The US has again proved they are not a reliable ally.Get well away from them,the Oz Govt should pull the plug on the mirage class subs,and tell him to get shot of the bases and ship Pine Gap,anywhere.
Decoupling from Israel is a must,rhe US is the only reason they have got away with everything the want.
On their own they would be a whole lot quieter.
