Iāve been saying for like 25 yrs that I never understand why the national security/independence angle isnāt pushed harder in green energy debates here/in Europe. Itās not only true, itās also an argument that can land with a different kind of audience/voter than the traditional āgreenā arguments.

Yeah, economics and national security were always legit angles for this discussion and I donāt really understand why they never took a foothold. We started turning in this direction in the US under carter in response to the OPEC embargo and the problems caused later by the Iranian revolution, but at least here a lot of that thinking got unreasonably tainted by the perceived broader failures of his presidency.

This is an incredible turn for where Democratic party politics is now. This is a statement from Daniel Biss, a Jewish candidate who just won a contested primary for a house race in Chicago. He is a progressive with the Peter Beinhart like attitude that its not just the right thing to do morally, but is actually the pro Jewish position to oppose the current Israeli government, but even within this demo that has a it more room to make these sorts of criticisms without fear of being labelled antisemitic this sort of full frontal middle finger to AIPAC is a very new
