Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 3)

Is caning still a thing there ?

Of course. And may it never go away.

Exactly. A totalitarian deplorable shithole. Don’t know too many Russians who felt living through that era was a better option than getting the fuck out if they could have. Do yourself a favour any US TANittes and leave while/once you can.

So I was a student in Singapore back then. Two students got caned in open sight.

In hindsight it was the late 90s and the students probably did deserve it. But that was the ah Beng times and all.

Oh in schools, corporal punishment is no longer allowed because of snowflake parents. But we do bring students to excursions to prisons that also showed what happens including caning just to make them understand what’s waiting if they break the law

One of the two students who got caned was a twin. And the teacher really said “yeah , this guy is a twin , his other brother is innocent”

Way to maintain confidentiality

No one would seriously hold up Singapore’s system of government as an ideal to be copied.

I had a better experience of Singapore when I went back there for work related purposes. But the whole 1993-1999 bit is really engraved.

And we don’t really need anyone to look up to us, we don’t what’s best for us.

Small state , strategic location. Easy as piss to govern

Racist as fuck though. Which goes for most of the globe.

An Indian being more fair than most of the Malaysians?

That makes your next comedy skit @gasband

My mom’s fair and she had to face questions on "how come Indians are fair like this "

So don’t preach.

We are elementary when it comes to racism and discrimination compared to some of the supposed great countries of the world though.

The USA is soo boring we are debating Singapore.
A provincial town that calls itself a country.

Of course. Next year, France could be ruled by the Front National, a pro-Russian party. They have the nukes.

Russian money doing what Russian money does, I suppose

It’s not a pro Russia party as such. It will follow the money which is probably more concerning.
As @wyld.at.hrt points out it’s the money that interests them particularly as they can not get loans from French banks. They have had loans from Russian banks with help from Oligarchs close to Putin.
They certainly wanted to be close to Trump and that conservative conference, that for example Truss, Bannon etc are close to.
My worries about the Rassemblement Nationale are the factions and which ones will win the momentum once/if they get to power. Historically they are formed from resistance to de-colonizeation and all that involves. On a foreign policy pov it could be catastrophic (who cares about that anymore?)

Isn’t it because he watched the movie?
