Tillis has been identified as the GOP senator most at risk from from a trump agenda - up for reelection in this cycle in a state that can get Dem. So all eyes have been on him in terms of how much fight he’d put up in opposing bad legislation swing voters would hate.

I am not talking about believing whether he’ll follow through. I am talking about the simple act of acknowledging what he is talking about blows up both his entire argument about what effective immigration policy has to be and his criticism of Democratic ideas on immigration reform.
Over the weekend firefighters in Idaho were called to out out a fire and then shot at by a sniper when they arrived leaving 2 dead. This part of Idaho, Coeur d’Alene, is known for being an organizational hub of the US white power, anti- government movement. You will struggle to find pieces covering the incident connecting those dots. It’s amazing how easy it is for these types of incidents to be brushed away as loan wolf incidents

Many people in NC think it means he is not giving up his objections to the bill, quite the opposite. He is no longer concerned about the consequences of opposing the bill.

Further to that, lots of people are viewing this cynically as he is only saying this now he has decided to step down. But I think it’s a case of needing to say it and realizing that ends his career as an elected Republican and deciding that was a consequence worth dealing with.

Something is getting passed, but it is such a cluster fuck of a bill with so many unrelated parts that what the final version will be is anyone’s guess. But whatever it is in the details it will reduce taxes for the very top, hurt pretty much everyone else, and massively increase the deficit.

Medicaid is a type of health coverage for poor people that pays for healthcare at the point of delivery so the patient does not have to pay out of pocket, I read someone over the weekend say that Republicans speak about it like they think people get Medicaid checks, and all of a sudden their rhetoric makes a lot more sense

A little late, but I appreciate hearing from you, and @RedOverTheWater.
I don’t have as much skin in the game, as they say; I’ve only been in the US for three, going on four years, no kids, etc.
My missus asked me recently why I get so cagey whenever somebody asks where I’m from, and I had to think about it. I do tend to shout, ‘I’m legal!’, but who knows what that is worth.
It would be nice to live in a place where I don’t feel the need to justify my very presence. My eyes are on returning to Europe or Argentina next year.
