Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 3)

It will be interesting to see what happens with the World Bank in particular. The next appointee is due to be in place in the summer of 2028. I don’t expect a pullout, but a reduction in contributions and therefore a dilution of voting power seems very likely. At the same time, it is anticipated that China’s contribution will grow.

No, because THAT is exactly the plan. Isolationism, or more precisely, white, Christo-fascist nationalist isolationism. Not sure anyone could do more damage to this country if they tried.

“Well, unfortunately, I lost my job as a result. And no one really is to blame for that,” he said of the debate. “It’s just the culture that kind of exists currently surrounding the manner in which you’re canceled for voicing […] any heterosexual, Christian, sort of moral belief that goes beyond sort of the secularism and the relativism that we’re so used to in our time.”

What a fucking chud.

Does Johnson think that he’s shutting down the Congress forever? The Epstein file question has been around for at least a couple of years now. Surely someone will bring it up for a vote when Congress reconvenes? Am I missing something here?

Martin Luther King Jr: Trump administration releases files on slain civil rights leader

I guess this means that he isn’t implicated in this one. Nice deflection from the Epstein scandal though.

Buying time for the propaganda machine to kick in and change the narrative, shift the focus or shift the blame. In a world with the memory span of a gold fish where facts don’t matter, it’s smart. Fucking sick, mind.

They used the interim appointment knowing she would struggle to get senate confirmation for the permanent role. Such appointments have to either be approved by a court or expire after 90 days to be replaced by the next in line. The court refused to extend her interim tenure so they fired the next in line to screw with the succession and keep Habba in office.

It is the senate’s responsibility to approve nominations. The actual wording of the Article ii Powers she cites only gives the president the power to nominate people. Trump is refusing to nominate candidates for key roles because the people he wants are not confirmable by the senate so he is violating his Article II responsibility.

For this to be done to a DoJ official and the head of the DoJ to come out and make such a brazenly dishonest public statement like this is a fireable offense in a sane timeline.

Everything is jus ducking stupid.

People need to watch that video if they want to get a good idea of what these people say behind closed doors. Don’t get fooled into thinking they are the fringe. The party they voted for fully embrace their views. It’s why “centerists” are completely exhausting/tedious these days. There is no negotiating with MAGA.

That’s right the Republicans and their deplorables need to be excised like the cancer they are in order for the body politic to survive.

It’s a pity Leslie Nielson is gone, he’d have played trump brilliantly in a Naked Gun type movie about his presidency.

That shit piece of kitsch ‘artwork’ cracks me up though. Brilliantly tasteless as always.

I am actually surprised at my capacity for amazement at the utter lack of dignity these people associate with the Presidency. You would think repetition would dull that, yet it hasn’t so far.

They do this shit while getting offended at accusations that they are using the power of government to go after their enemies.

Its not just that their positions and ideas are awful, it’s that they have as much ownership of their poor behavior as a petulant 5 year old

I’d add there is a lack of shame in general)…
