And yet Americans trust Republicans more than Democrats on immigration, even if they disagree with Trump’s policies.
But hey, keep up with your ad hominems. I’m sure it helps your self esteem while you continue to lose.
Oh, and your concern about “racially profiling people” is exactly what the left has been doing for a decade with CRT and DEI. It’s why the left continues to bleed support from the working class.
So you’ll excuse me if I don’t believe you really care about this.
Ok, so instead of the continuous negativity, what should the Democratic Party be doing in order to revive its popularity in your opinion?
What are some positive steps it could take to regain its position?
Seems like a plan, the Dems look completely rudderless at the moment, perhaps they are still in shock, coming second to the orange buffoon!
Be nice for them to get their shit together, yesterday would be good.
You keep repeating that despite how bad Trump is, the fact that most Americans still prefer him shows that the Left is worse. What it actually proves is how moronic and broken you have become as a society and a nation.
Amongst the countless things Trump has been wrong about, there was something he got 100% right: that he could and has got away with anything and everything because the other side has been exclusively identified in bird-brains with “woke” and “identity politics”.
I wonder if there will be any learnings from the Trump episode (not just the SP…). Will we look back in 10-15 years with rose or red tinted glasses? Will the Trump voter wallow in their forever memories of yester year or will they be reviled by them?
The Trump voter is not a new vein being carefully mined but rather just the old tired vein of the right that had seemingly lost out to then newer left. The irony is that the right were where left are now.
The problem with the merry-go-round is that with each completing of a circle the conversation seems to get dumber.
The use of right and left feels wrong for this blurb as neither accurately describes either base…
Again, I’ll correct you and say thst it is Trump’s “organisation” that is obsessed with identities and labels.
The reason the Dems are strughling is the growing unrest worldwide with regards to peoples earnings and what they get for it. It is 1930’s Germany allnover again, but this time its across a far wider arc and transcends borders. Populists tap into that.
When I got to my phone this morning, I find 23 new posts on this thread, and think, “What has the orange asshat done now?”
…It was only Toro…
So, not that far off
Seems as though this bottomless pit of debauchery is going to run forever… Someone for fucks sake bring them to account
In fairness, I think someone from KY lasting 90 seconds without using the N word should be applauded. That sort of restraint is unherd of
woke times indeed…
Chris Hayes has a bit that I think is an insightful take on the void of character that exists among the Dems in general today. His take is that the average Dem tells you what they value and then present policies that support that. For good politicians though, the ones who really end up resonating with a segment of the electorate, they present policies that tell you what they value. Bernie’s focus on Medicare for All tells you pretty clearly what he’s about and allows you to reasonably fill in the gaps on where he’d likely be on a range of other issues. Trump’s Build the Wall was the same. Dems have become a party with a collection of policy ideas with no real character or overriding point as to who they are or what they stand for. That is a void that opposition forces can fill with these sorts of attacks.
There is a real double standard that the Dem establishment is tarred with the words of randos on the internet who are on the left (see even people like Joe Biden being framed as a “defund the police Democrat”) in a way that elected Republicans arent even held to account for the things they actually do and say. But part of that is because as a party the Dems they have presented themselves in a way that people dont know what they stand for.
This is what is being presented as no different than the “harms of DEI”.
For me, the startling takeaway from that graph covers both parties - a generation ago, both parties were in the +15 range - now the Republicans have White House and both chambers, but haven’t been in the positive range for 20 years. That speaks to enormous dissatisfaction in the functioning of the US political system, to potentially destabilizing levels.
