If you ever wonder why so many Americans distrust the media as extremely biased and ideological, detached from the real issues facing Americans, this compilation sums it up completely.
This is a marginal, minor event. But it represents the obsession the media and the left have with identity politics. And most Americans have repeatedly told pollsters over and over and over again that they do not agree with the Democrats on identity politics.

To be clear about the ad in question, it playfully alluded to Nazi ideology in double entendres about blue signifying good jeans/genes. It is an ad explicitly designed to kick a hornetâs nest and get a reaction. It is the exact sort of thing the new right plays on, something @ShadesOfRed has commented on numerous times. See the ok finger symbol or wearing Hawaiian shirts. So they knew exactly what they were doing with this ad and knew exactly what people would hear. It was done precisely because they wanted the attention of being in the middle of a âweâre being attacked because woke has gone crazyâ, banking on the present environment of people coming to their defense to stick the boot into the woke.
It is marketing 101, but also a really damning indictment of the current political environment that anyone would think that a nod and wink to Nazi ideology is not beyond a line for this sort of attempt at virality.
FWIW, there has been some of the expected criticism of this online, but most of the reaction about having to defend AE and the outrage from the right and reactionary center (who love kicking the woke even more than the right do) has been on auto pilotâŚreacting to the reaction they have expected rather than the reaction there has actually been.
