The difference in strenght between China and the EU is so incredibly sobering. China did not back down in it’s trade dispute, and here, even got bizarre concessions of the kind that the EU could only dream of.
I have said it before, but if I was Taiwanese, I would reconsider dreams of independence.

Reading all that,the whole thing has a long way to run,and will likely crash and the fair Ursula may well go too.
Germany and Italy is desperate to avoid a Trade War and were pushing for these concessions. I don’t think the EU will dare to break this deal, not when the Germans are so in favour of it and have Italy and the Baltics onboard . Credibility is the EU’s main strenght.
But time will tell. I should maybe be more positive. Maybe. But I am not sure recent history can justify that. But maybe for my own mental health…
As above, if both sides are saying completely different things were negotiated, then isn’t the deal already at risk.
The Mighty (in this context: the one who is ready to inflict unacceptable pain upon the other) tends to decide how to intepret a deal when there are no rules that govern (read: binds) the mighty.
But sure, it’s bizarre and maybe it’s not clear, but I am not optimistic. Others can be if they wish. I see no reason for optimism myself.

The initial thought is “did he do this on the anniversary of a past mass shooting event to make a point” the same way the Oklahama City bombing was done on the anniversary of Waco. Then you realize there is more than 1, and it’s just a case that these are now so common that there isnt an open day on the calendar that doesnt coincide with the date of a past mass shooting event.
I dunno, it just feels like the whole “thoughts and prayers” thing doesn’t seem to be working.
