What you call “Extreme Far Left” is actually ultra liberals and generally not at all Far Left, often even not Left, but never mind political theory.
You also use the word “extreme” incorrectly all the fucking time and it is a bit boring to read frankly. The ones you call extreme, are not at all as extreme as MAGA, after all (with the odd exception), yet you never call them extreme or ultra far right etc. People notice this, which is why you are not taken seriously. You have to argue in a fair manner for people to listen to you.
Yet, I actually agree you sometimes have some good points (I too think the outrage regarding this commercial is silly, just as an example), but you exaggerate so much that they always fall flat. When you then combine your exagerations with what appears to be intellectual dishonesty (your selective outrage regarding Culture War stuff, while ignoring MAGA; as they never outrage you) betrays some issues, to say the least. I don’t understand why you don’t want to argue with logic and reason. You have a good brain, I have seen you post good stuff, so I don’t get this. It’s so hyper selective. Why don’t you want to be taken seriously ?
Enabling a monster, while poking at the left. Ugh. I don’t see a moral compass or any sense of perspective in fighting the most egregious wrongs in America.
Tell us what you are doing about Trump. Tell us what the right needs to do to cleanse itself. They are running up the deficit. They are trampling the rule of law. There are no checks and balances any more. Congress is becoming irrelevant and the Supreme Court is in his pocket. He is a grifter, liar, likely paedophile, yet he has you overlooking all that, and much more besides, to continue to post about a jeans commercial.
Where is the outrage over the genocide the Republicans have enabled in Gaza? What about the many thousands of starving children?
I reflected on calling you a shit-stirrer yesterday. Not my style and definitely rare for me to be moved like that. But sadly I stand by it.
That you call me a troll merely demonstrates that you cannot bear to hear what most Americans believe. You are the problem with today’s left. You live in an ideological media bubble and want to cancel those who dare criticize your failing political ideology.
I agree with many criticisms you have of Trump.
But the fact that the left keeps losing to Trump, and your clear unwillingness to even consider that you might be royally fucking things up, means you’d rather live in a self-reinforcing bubble than do anything real about it since it would require self-criticism that cuts off your dopamine hits.
I’m not fucking anything up. I did my part in voting against Trump.
I have no authority or platform to influence Democrat policy. That’s your schtick. You keep talking to people as though they hold this power within their grasp. It’s laughable.
I couldn’t give a crap about the sort of woke stuff you continually prosecute on these boards. It is, by and large, tangential to my life. Real things, substantive things, are being undermined, attacked, and removed by the orange paedophile. That’s what matters.
The only people I know who talk about woke things are extreme right wingers. You embody that on these boards by continually bringing up this sort of peripheral politics.
I don’t know anyone who cares about the woke stuff like you do. You have a MAGA influenced fixation, as you try to dismantle make-believe perceived opponents on the left.
Trump is the problem. If you are not trying to do something about that, you are part of the problem.
The clueless lack of self-awareness of left-wing Liverpool FC supporters re politics on this site is genuinely staggering.
They would never stand for the incompetent failures of our side on the pitch. If we were failing as a football club, they would demand that the club identify the problems, fix the problems, and get back to winning ways.
But do the exact same thing on politics, and they deny the problem, resort to personal attacks if you point out the problem, and claim it’s everyone else who is the problem and not themselves.
This is an insane statement. He is not ultra liberal, have never come across as such and the reason why he calls you a troll is explained carefully above; your perpetual repetitions of hyper selective culture war posts maybe plays a role ? Just maybe. Fucking do better than this if you are seeking to antagonise him (which you clearly are). He isn’t your enemy, but you seem to be on a crusade to create enemies. I don’t understand why you just can’t argue properly without the bullshit.
My experience is that most people who cannot counter criticism resort to those offering criticism as a “troll.”
This is the American political thread. Most people commenting here are not Americans (I believe) and have little understanding of America’s political culture.
Most Canadians don’t understand American political culture, and Canada is closer to the US than everyone else. Europeans are even less so.
I’m a single voter who has voted for the Democratic Presidential nominee every time Trump was on the ballot, and voted for Democrats ~70% of the time in all races from 2016 through 2024.
I am an American citizen (dual citizen with UK). Lived here for 17 years. I understand the political scene very well, thank you.
Under Trump, it has taken a lurch to authoritarianism, possible fascism, and the famed checks and balances of the American political system are nowhere to be seen.
He is the most unqualified person for such high office, on any number of levels, the basest and vilest we have seen.
I can’t believe an erudite observer like you cannot see the myriad problems he brings. So, what are you going to do to fix them?
Amplifying a bogus culture war is a lame distraction. Surely you’ve got more to offer than that?
What are you actually going to do to improve things that are so drastically off track under Trump? Do you have the ability? Authority? Ideas?
If you do, let’s see it. Show your thinking! My suspicion is that comments about jeans and such represent your best. Prove otherwise!
So what are you doing to show the American people the error of their ways?
You see it straight given your voting history. I voted for Hillary, Biden and Kamala too. Obama before them. (I was sad I didn’t get a chance to vote for Bernie Sanders to be President, but that’s water under the bridge now).
So since the country has lurched to the extreme right, what are you going to do to help people see the error of their ways?
Waging a culture war against the left seems misplaced and unhelpful.
The left is waging the culture war that most Americans oppose. The left has tied itself to the mast of extreme identity politics, canceling people who dare counter the far left wing narrative.
You won’t know this if you are inside the left wing media bubble.
The mind of the reactionary centrist - consume RW content crowing in celebration about something having “triggered” the libs, demonstrate no independent value judgement on whether the thing in question is worthy of criticism, buy the hype hook line and sinker…and then blame Democratic Party
I’ve watched Fox News for maybe two hours over the past decade, and that’s only because their hurricane coverage is better than all the other MSM outlets.
Americans have repeatedly told pollsters for many years that they disagree with the left’s policies on identity politics. Yet the left persists with unpopular identity politics. The reason why the right leans into identity politics is because the Democrats are on the wrong side of the American public.
If an Everton defender passes you the ball when there’s an open net, what would you do? Now ask yourself the same question about Republicans when the Democrats pass them the ball and their goal is completely open.
