Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 3)

The mind of the reactionary far leftist - keep parroting losing policies and blame everyone except yourself for losing

Your entire premise is based on an outrage you have imagined. You’re here dunking on everyone for being on the wrong side of this when there is no backlash here at all over the ad. Like most the anti woke shit, you’ve imagined a bogeyman to fight

As a peace offering I am able to say that you do see some things straight. :joy: Your voting record is evidence of that.

Where we part company is in the culture war stuff. I don’t know what your influences have been, but I can see the outcome in the way you post and wage this culture war on these boards.

You would be much better advised to put your energy into helping the MAGA community see the error of their ways. Start with what you think is most objectionable about Trump. Tell them! Stick to your guns. Educate them and help them!

I’m not talking about what is going on here.

I’m talking about the mindset of the far left in positions of influence and how disconnected they are from the average American.

I’ve said this many, many times before. Either the tribalism or general reactionary thick-headedness of those on the left who have a knee jerk reaction to defend their own tribe with ad hominems and/or whataboutisms whenever there’s criticism about their slavish devotion to unpopular identity politics and how it undermines their economic message towards those advocating for course correction.

Because if you don’t, with demographic changes, you are going to fade into irrelevance.

This sentence is quite revealing.

You say you are a consistent Democrat voter. So why the word ā€œyou?ā€

Surely it is ā€œwe?ā€ You are on team Democrat, right? So if we don’t sort our shit out, we are going to fade to irrelevance?

I’m not left. I’m in the center. Probably center right. But I’ve voted for the Democrats because I see the danger of Trump.

The left is undermining itself with its obsession with identity politics.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again - left-wing populist economics can win in America, even if I disagree. But it’s being undermined by the left’s obsession with identity politics, which is extremely unpopular with the American public.

Identity politics is bad…followed up by a demographics is destiny argument.

But this is also guy using identitarianism to come up with his terrible takes on the NYC mayoral primary win…defining people by the neighborhood they live in as a surrogate marker for income groups and how they voted, repeatedly ignoring that when looking at direct measures of income that story is contradicted.

This a guy who never complains about white identity politics of the right but identity politics is bad when the Dems do it and it’s the only lens he can see anything through himself. It’s a guy who is obsessed over the lefts desire to cancel people and has nothing about the historic abuse of power to stifle speech this government has undertaken.

I think he may just not be on the up and up

Yeah, lots of poor people live in the Upper East Side.

Meanwhile, exit polls showed that black and Hispanic people in the outer boroughs voted overwhelmingly against Mamdani.

But hey, keep cosplaying that multi-million dollar heir to upper class elites in ā€œworking class vocationsā€ such as tenured professors and movie producers who live in a multi million dollar apartment in Greenwich Village and can afford private police security in a rich African suburb for their inter-continental wedding really represents anything other than the upper class virtue-signaling elites lol

Again. He won the broad middle of the income distribution. The limousine liberals, defined by actual income not where they live and what you think that says about them, voted for the other guy. The serial abuser and granny killer.

But even ignoring that your take is incoherent. You are basing your analysis on people’s racial identity. Mamdani ran away from identity politics to center everything on economics of working people. This despite being constantly baited by people trying to create issues out of his Muslim background and supposed antagonism to Jews. So how is this reconcilable with your view that white Dems only care about culture war issues and the browns might vote for them if they focused on more identity neutral economics?

While uber-progressive Upper East Side Karen sent her little son to a $60,000 a year kindergarten, she lamented to her yoga group at Starbucks over a $9 soy vegan latte about how awful it is that the uneducated were dying of fentanyl overdoses in Flyover County, and that it was completely their fault. Meanwhile her hedge fund husband was making $100,000,000 a year funneling his gains through a Cayman Islands partnership he’d paid a US senator to exempt carried interest as capital gains instead of income as a lobbyist through a multimillion dollar PAC.

And she voted for Mamdani because virtue signaling

A thought leader of the MAGA movement who has actual influence on senior government officials.

If we’re concerned about which party is captured by the extreme maybe it’s worth refocusing our attention. Maybe it’s worth worrying more about the movement that saw fit to grant blanket pardons for 600 prisoners convicted of assaulting police on Jan 6th than on a small online backlash to a purposeful provocative ad that has nothing to do with the opposition party. Maybe?

ā€œThe brownsā€ - your words - didn’t vote for him.

He overwhelmingly lost blacks and Hispanics.

Ok now try actually reading.

When did you start?

^^^^^
This really fucking happened. Or at least the $100,000,000 profit, lobbying a US Senator, Cayman Islands part.

And the Left was OK with it. Not a fucking peep.

Erm, yeah. Nah. I’m calling bullshit on that one. You’re merely using that a some kind of tactic to enhance your credibility for the tripe you post. No ways someone with your supposed voting tendencies would be overlooking the egregious failings of the Tangerine Twat while constantly harping on identity politics or whatever.

ICE is retaining innocent people and destroying families.

Toro ’ the left is too woke’

The administration is corrupt as fuck and eroding civil agencies

Toro : the left’s identity politics means that they’ve lost themselves

They built cages for kids ffs

Toro: The guy who’s now a girl shouldn’t be allowed to compete on the track as a girl and that’s why the world is going to shit.

Do us all a favour and remove the mask so you can go forth in good honour and procreate with thyself in peace.

And thats not because of culture wars. If you honestly sat down with any American and said what is upur biggest concern and tore it right down to the bone, it would be the cost of living vs wages and living standards. The rest is noise thats been generated to blame others for the reasons why people and the government are skint.

Why dont we fix the potholes, the immigrants have taken all the cash. Theyve spent all the money on culture officers.

People are pissed, and they end up listening and believing populists. And the populists are backed by billionaires. Why do the billionaires back the populists? Because they like the status quo. The situation that blew up their wealth in the first place.

While the media was focused on saying it was racist, 71% of American Eagle’s customers liked the ad. This is the disconnect the elites have with the rest of America.

A Pew poll has seen a massive shift towards Republicans amongst young men. Republicans dominate amongst people under 50.
