The President lives half his life at his private club hosting all sorts of “elites” looking for political connections. Trump has sold connections to him through his crypto businesses and is running an extensive pay for pardons scheme. Fucking Don Jr created a private social club in DC where he gets to personally vet the members to ensure the business can be conducted there without the prying eyes of the press present.
This is incredible. Bush’s 37% was so low it was considered one of the strongest arguments against pursuing war crimes claims against him once he left office because it showed he was already a beaten pathetic man
Truman won in 1948 so he’s got to be hopeful of that.
But yeah the losses in those midterm years, 2022 the Democrats did rather well, it’s why I wonder if we won’t see something similar this time for them.
The rule with the deplorables is if they paint something the other side/they are not doing as negative, then they are either doing it, planning to do it or jealous that they cannot.
Youre not allowed to talk about it because it sounds conspiratorial, and makes you no better than Trump, but the GOP attempts to impact the upcoming elections through a series of 1000s of little cuts is well underway

This is only happening because after Stein won his election in 24 the GOP run state chamber changed the rules removing the power of the governor to determine these sorts of rules and put them in the hands of an office the GOP retained. This is the sort of thing that allows them to create unfair conditions on how elections are conducted. This is what Stacy Abrams was fighting so vigorously in 2018 - she conceded she lost the election on the rules that existed, but were a set of rules courts agreed over and again disenfranchised voters but refused to do anything about it.
In addition we are seeing Doj interfering with CA voter roles with information they have now conceded in court is knowingly inaccurate. There have been multiple rounds of large errors in Texas related to failing to properly register voter registrations. Missouri has spent months trying to have the election conducted on electoral maps different than the ones used for the primaries which would see some credible Dem candidates all of a sudden have no district to run in
The members of the GOP who refused to go along with Trump’s attempt to steal the 2020 election didn’t do so because of a commitment to democracy. They did it because they already had a sophisticated approach to rat fucking elections that only worked because it was done at a subclinical scale allowing it to stay under the radar and they didnt want to bring attention to it with Trump’s nuclear approach.
I hope that the Democrat win is so overwhelming that all the cheating won’t be able to stop it. It’s appalling that we are here, but various schemes have been unfolding for months, in order to stack the deck in the Republican’s favor.
I still think the Democrats will win, but my two main concerns are Elon Musk doing something, and martial law being declared on the back of some manufactured incident.
The press have repeatedly defended Trump praising him over how accessible to the press he is, ignoring that his only two modes with the press are saying demonstrably false shit (that they dont ever cover from the angle of “lying president lies to the people”) or this
Great question. For me it says that things are utterly broken under Trump, and he is so corrupt that he will do anything to stay in power.
Even though he has over two years left on his term, this vote is very consequential for him as it could begin to introduce some accountability for him, and reintroduce the notion of branches of government holding a President in check.
Conversely, it could give him license to continue apace with all the disgraceful things we have seen.
I do think he is a very frail man, and at some point that will take its natural course, but before then I hope he will see some accountability for what he has done.
I would be more concerned about any created issue in relation to the Presidential election, I think they thought losing the House and having the Senate 50/50 then allowed him to shift blame.
I don’t think they banked so much of the senate being in play. They do sound utterly desperate in places and this turnout in Texas in early voting has spooked them.
As for Vivek’s stuff I am still baffled who he thought that would play with amongst voters he needs to get out or change vote.
The senate map is very confusing. There are places in play people would have thought you were crazy for suggesting was possible. Beyond Texas there is Iowa, Kansas, and even places across the deep south the GOP are having to play strong defense to keep hold of. Yet in an environment that makes that possible you still have PA tight and MN increasingly looking good for the GOP.
The Vivek stuff, I think it just shows how much disdain so much of the MAGA movement has for its own voters. I think there is a level of deplorability to even want to play in this area in the first place, but what I assume they are banking on is the information environment their voters exist in making it unlikely the truth or blow back about the ad reaches them. They are banking on the voters they need being rubes, which while never a bad bet in US politics does make their cry arsing about “elites disrespecting real americans” land differently.
There have recently been a number of resignations from ESPN over how much of the network they have handed over to gambling…sorry, “prediction markets.” You would think a news org would be at least as concerned with their reputation as a network coverage dumb sports is, especially with regards to election coverage
