From what I understand there’s no reliable way to transport the oil and gas out. Pipelines are needed?
The price has to be high and stable so the infrastructure can be put in place and the high running costs covered. Gaz probably has a better chance. There are exploitations however I understand most are capped waiting for the moment when prices permit the extraction.

Yeah pretty much. You would need to build the entire infrastructure for access etc. before you start drilling. No one is willing to take that level of investment on. I’m not sure if the geology is such that extraction is easy once there but given this result, I suspect it isn’t.
2 licenses were sold, but they will likely apply for a refund in the coming years.
Oil companies just have better options.

At least it will make the US foreign aid budget more transparent - for over 30 years military aid to Israel has been the single largest component of it.

It makes you wonder if the recent reports about Israel’s spying on the US has given Netanyahu much greater visibility into the Trump playbook and he’s got a very good idea of just how much leeway he has.

I’ve never seen him look so angry. It’s remarkable just how easy a journalist who refuses to be cowed can get his mask to slip. Maybe the rest should give it a go instead of allowing themselves to be steamrollered.

This is why this admin went to the lengths they did to remake the white house press corp. This is the group who have the most direct exposure to trump and as a group it is now dominated by influencers cosplaying as journalists and who have been picked for their overt pro-trump positions. Even in cases where legit journos from that group challenge him, the nature of those exchanges (people get one question before attention is moved to the next person) means it’s not possible to pin him down the way that it can be done in a 1-1 sit down like this. And for someone who is hailed for giving the press unprecedented levels of access, his sit downs with people who will challenge him are only a tiny fractions of his appearances.
The funny thing is the line from the right yesterday appeared to be “that was not a good appearance from the President, but why was she even pressing him on something this old and litigated?” seemingly ignoring the relevance to the political weaponization fund that is a current news story.
