What Trump is saying is that they were incapable of securing an airbase in an allied country on a remote (from Iran) island. Essentially, the USAF is completely impotent. I don’t think it’s testosterone levels they should be worrying about.
A couple of things; How is it that a third of US voters still support this regime? and why is the Latino vote so skittish?
It is incredible that 24% of Latinos support having their door kicked down in the middle of the night and deported to an internment camp.
@Magnus, firstly, I always appreciate your knowledge, your input your experience, your posts in this field.
You seem sceptical about the reasons why the Bombers were relocated, alluding to the open ammo dumps, etc. What are you genuine thoughts?
I’m guessing their natural religious conservativism and their non-white , non-christian anti-immigrant tendencies are just fine as long as they align with what the administration are doing. Who could ever have predicted that when Trump said he was going to deport all the illegals he meant them too ?
They think they’re voting for that to happen to the "other’ Latinos that they don’t like. For anyone who’s read Watership Down, they’re in the warren with the shining wires.
For the better part of 50 years, American Conservatives have been working to make abortion the defining issue in US politics. They have generally been quite successful in the states with significant Latino populations
Most Anglos collapse the concept of race and ethnicity into the same thing when looking at latinos, but that isn’t technically true (from the perspective of official demographic considerations) and certainly isn’t how they view it. Whiteness in these communities is as much an acquired, aspirational trait as it is a racial one. These people often have the most derogatory opinions of other latino people of anyone you will meet. So there is always going to be a sizeable minority who will more naturally align with the “white” anti immigrant side of the argument and just assume the people with the guns and the paddy wagon will automatically see them as white the way they see themselves.
Its less a leopards eating my face thing and more a “hang on, I thought we had an understanding I was one of you guys” thing.
But Arminius’ point is also worth remembering. For all the talk of a racial realignment under Trump, I have argued a better way of viewing Trump’s latino support was the breakdown of the Obama coalition that saw Latinos go back to the GOP in similar numbers to what we’d seen over the previous 20 years. 30-40% of the latino vote was typical through the Reagan-Bush years, largely a response to the social and religious conservatism of those administrations. Trump’s 46% is a high water mark, but its a difference of just a rounding error when compared to W’s 44% in 04.
So the deranged cunt is now publicly encouraging Iran to attack cities in the US? ![]()
And it got cheers from the crowd.
It’s wild that Trump’s political super power is “telling it as it is even when its unpopular” yet Hillary rightly calling a segment of his base deplorable (while making a case that the majority have genuine economic anxiety that the Dems need to address) is what killed her.
Really… where is that hate coming from I wonder?
Two decades of being told that Dems who live in the cities (particularly the coastal cities) are the enemy.
Geezz… you lot must really be crying out for someone who can restore if not trust, at least an acceptable level of tolerance between people, if that is still possible. I’d say that for any younger politician in your country, that should be the most important mission imo.
TBH, I have never understood what latino is.
Mexican.
You have Mexicans from Mexico. You also have South American Mexicans. Caribbean Mexicans. Asian Mexicans (filipinos). And white European Mexicans
More seriously though, it is a concept that didnt really exist until the 60s or 70s when disparate spanish speaking demographics took lessons from the civil rights movement and determined they would get a louder political voice if they grouped together under a single demographic. Even ignoring the complicated racial politics within individual latin communities, its never been a coherent thing and has always had a lot of tension within the group because of it
The sooner the US reforms their agricultural policy to end socialism for agricultural land owners, the easier their future will be. States like Nebraska suck hundreds of millions of subsidies per year out of the coastal states they hate, to grow products insulated from the market that then require protectionist policies against the developing world (and Canada) in order to have a market. In exchange, Nebraskans (and many other states) are overrepresented in Washington and reliably work against the preferences of those they are economically dependent on.
Just cut those policies, annihilate the family farms that are the cradle of reactionary politics, and move on.

To be fair, it also somewhat recognized how they were being treated by the Anglo-white majority, who really didn’t give a damn if someone was Mexican, Cuban, or Dominican…all spics, ergo all Latinos when they began their own agitation.
It’s a remarkable contradiction: the US, the land of capitalism, practices socialism and protectionism in favour of their farmers, while lecturing the whole world about how great capitalism is, and at the same time promoting worldwide agricultural trade agreements in order to open foreign markets for themselves… Populations of most countries don’t want their genetically modified trash, but they try and in part achieve to force them on us.
Gotta love the French. A school budget cut has them closer to mass insurrection than the Americans are with a wholesale slide into fascism
Textbook wise it’s the below, but happy to be corrected with a more accepted/current definition.

In general, “Latino” is understood as shorthand for the Spanish word latinoamericano (or the [Portuguese] latino-americano ) and refers to (almost) anyone born in or with ancestors from Latin America and living in the U.S., including [Brazilians]
Latin America covering the countries which speak Spanish or Portuguese in the Americas.
