Note, this is also why there was a group of Dem’s who voted against the recent Graham sanctions bill - it was clear there where holes that would still allow trump to do this anyway
Ooh, my bad. That was a compelling thing. That brave goose soldiered on for a long time, way after everyone had flown south for the winter. I would see him many times when I walked the dog, the poor thing couldn’t fly with a broken wing.
Sadly I do not know how the story ended, but one day I stopped seeing him. I walked around the pond where he stayed but I couldn’t see a body or anything, or even a pile of feathers in case a coyote got him.
I’d like to think he saw out his days sipping a margarita in warmer climes.
I am not as convinced. For a start, it is absolutely clear that absolutely no one involved in oil/energy files on the American side is remotely connected to this - the deal is in metric tonnes, which is completely normal for European transactions and utterly alien to the American energy industry. My strong suspicion is that the White House has been suckered into this (again).
We shall see. I have read many reports the last 2 months about Kushner and whatshisface (the other guy that I won’t bother to google the name of due to lack of respect for him) that they were trying to convince Trump of the merit of an energy deal with Russia. The White House’s fury over Ukrainian bombing of Russian petrolium is also widely reported, and Trump didn’t like it even before he himself drove energy prices through the roof with his idiotic little Iran adventure.
I will never claim to be correct as such, since I am open to you being right and it is quite possible, but we shall see.
We will know, Arminius, in a week or two. These matters always, always leak to the media in the US.
My brain was trying sanitasion for my mind and wellbeing. But unfortunately it failed, and while I went outside to let in the cat; I rememebered his name.
Meanwhile, Bessent is apparently planning to reduce the sale of longer-term debt in favour of debt with terms of 5 years or less. The logic is that they are struggling versus corporate bonds, and the current rates would lock in at 20 year highs.
The downside risk is that all US yields are pushing upward, and the higher the percentage of US debt held in short-term paper, the more vulnerable it is to upward movement of interest rates. In order to end the upward pressure on interest rates, he is more or less betting that interest rates will stop going up. If that proves not to be the case, letting inflation take over may be the least worst option.
The orange toddler is true to form,he is still in melt down about not getting the Peace Prize…again
All he has done is the reverse of peace. He will never see it!
Very unlikely. The Congress that comes back in session will be a lame duck Congress made up of the current members. The new Congress won’t be in place until January.
We know they are petty and vindictive, but this is still shocking. They are determined to stifle all opposition, even going after a single mother from New Jersey.
