He sacked her !!!

There were reports/leaks that he was mulling sacking her, as she did something extra obnoxious for a MAGA bitch and diplomatically problematic in Hellas, causing embarrasment and actual problems even for this White House.
She stepping down, means that she had no path forward to continue in her job ^-^

Her appalling conduct in Athens had very little to do with it - being caught dead to rights selling access to GOP donors is what finished her. Only Trump is allowed to be that corrupt.

Ahh, I just read in the Norwegian press that Greece was so angry that the Trump administration had actually had talks about her keeping the position or not.

To be honest and humble, I don’t remember (probably posted here above, but it is so MUCH crazy every day) the situation you speak of. I must have only skimmed it…

Trump commercial railing against his enemies kept airing after court blocked it

US attorney apologized to court, said government has stopped running Trump ads.

As someone mentioned above , these people don’t give a shit and continue to break laws.

And excuse me, @Arminius , but I hope you are not thinking about Modi or India or something equally unimportant again when you see this (honestly was a bit shocking to me given how catastrophical I knew this would be and warned of and it disappointed me to a degree, as I thought you knew better due to my ingrained respect for your general knowledge and brain; though here it was running on Energy Saving Mode I suspect).

People must stop underestmating and ignoring what Trump says. He is dangerous and often actually acts on the mental things he says.

Inability to bomb Russian logistics inside Ukraine can lead to front collapse, and will lead to far more rapid Russian territorial gains, as well as making Ukrainian offensive operations incredibly harder, as this almost removes the ability for Shaping Operations.

When I use the word disaster, I don’t exaggerate and seldom knowingly do unless I am making a joke…

So anyway, hope everyone is having a nice day. I am not.
This could lead to Russia winning the war down the line and will certainly lead to 10 000 + dead Ukrainian soldiers and unknown number of civilians and leveled towns. And with the catastrophical demographic situation, regenerating soldiers isn’t exactly easy (impossible).
People speak of Gaza, Gaza, Gaza, but the Large Scale genocide with catastrohpical demographic consequences (that no one seems to fucking care about in comparison) has always been in Ukraine where both military and civilian manpower has been critically low since 2023 and getting steadily worse.

Yeah, it’s a disaster. Ukraine have done so well to resist Russia’s invasion, but how can they continue to do that without at least some logistical support from the US? Not getting patriot missiles anymore was already catastrophic enough. Now, unless something spectacular happens, they are cooked I’m afraid.

Many more civilian and military casulaties to follow, and quite possibly, a military collapse. :frowning:

Also, @Magnus, will they be able to continue carrying out their long-range attacks against Russia’s energetic infrastructure without starlink support?

Yes, they will with some issues. They don’t rely on Starlink, so this is totally a punitive US act to change Ukraine’s posture.

But medium strikes are arguably much more important since they target supply lines and reinforcement for the front.

Also, @Arminius , I apologice for your inclusion in the post above. Kind of unecessary perhaps, but I was frustrated that you did not understand the severety of this fallout and seemingly didn’t take it seriously. But that is just because I think highly of you and thought you understood more.

Logging on to read my daily ā€œnews from the warā€ dose and seeing the latest, totally destroyed my day at least. Arguably it should lead to some massive panic in Western capitals too. I fucking hope so.

I have to go.

Two very different levels - the Modi comment was really related to US standing in the world, and the inability to take their diplomacy seriously going forward. It is just such a jarring example of hypocrisy.

The Starlink matter is critical, but is fundamentally confined to the war in Ukraine - although it absolutely illustrates why moving away from US dependency is essential to Western sovereignty. It is just one more instance of why Canada has to kill the F35 deal, for example.

Of note, Canada’s federal government is now moving away from any use of Starlink in favour of deploying our own network through Telesat. It probably won’t ever have the same coverage in the Southern hemisphere, but the civilian use case is telecommunications to the Far North.

Edit - added press release about the system. There are active discussions about expanding the network further to provide a system fully usable by NATO allies, along with a project involving interconnectivity with the French system which already provides Ukraine more information than the US has been in the past 2 years.

Ukraine losing the war is not itself confined the Ukraine, which is why we flood it with weapons and money.

I understand the point you are making though. I’m frustrated.

Edit: I wanted to emphasis this, no disrespect intended. But really, this is not confined to Ukraine on a macro level. And as you say, it illustrates dependence well, and makes acting to get out of that dependency critical (which I think wwe both have said many times in the past) and far more so than even yesterday.
