Drill Baby Drill...the US Politics Thread (Part 4)

Pitching for a re-run but the Democrats would be foolish.

Ossoff now seems the front runner to me if he runs and it seems there is talk.

This thing we made up and tried to make into a big deal has been blown out of proportion

Basically he made something up or got someone to make something up. That employee if they exist actually has also broken the law I believe. (I guess they didn’t and they don’t exist).

All things considered he was ill for a small period of time, look at Mitch McConnell an actual corspe being wheeled in and operated from a remote control (I jest but it makes the Soviet approach look professional).

He’s gay, He’s Ill, He’s trans… He may be all those things or he may actually be the biggest threat to the Republican Texans in decades. I really do hope he wins it’s exactly what the cunts would deserve.

Also why do these whistleblowers always go to some Republican conspiracy nut job and not like err an actual journalist, would it having to exist be the issue?

Parents are stunned. It’s just something you don’t expect to happen in Bend, Oregon. It’s a mountain town," he said.

When is the US ever going to seriously look at its gun laws.

Saying that a Medal of honour to whoever shot the perpetrator

Which is why they wont look at their gun laws

Thats why I said, saying that.

It has to start somewhere in regards to restricting gun access.

Republicans will bring out the “thoughts and prayers” nonsense again.

American fundamentalist Christianity is essentially a Moloch cult. Child sacrifice and pleas to the divine for material prosperity…

With regard to the Moloch cult stuff, American evangelicals would say that’s why they are against abortion, as hundreds of thousands of children are sacrificed each year that way.

Living here as a fair-minded Brit, I see enormous hypocrisy in the lack of joined up thinking from the pro-life religious element. All the eggs seem to be in the abortion basket, while lots of them would have no problem with the death penalty, or even Hegseth’s desire for a brutal public execution.

The lack of willing to improve gun control seems so obviously out of step with a pro life stance that it’s hard to fathom.

The tweet above about Sandy Hook is arresting, but spot on.

I think at this point, she is already holed below the waterline. Between being a comedy story for marginal literacy and potentially facing charges in California for misrepresenting herself as a lawyer, she is far more of a story herself than you ever want from a White House press secretary. My guess is that she is in the job right now because no one wants to admit the mistake this quickly.

FFS, Venezuela is not even that hard of a word. Personally, I am hoping for some kind of ‘The Mouse That Roared’ situation that puts Liechtenstein at the center of world news in the next week or so.

David Sirota is such a fraud. This sort of refusal to understand the point someone is making before jumping in to demean them is textbook Sirota bad faith bullshit

https://x.com/davidsirota/status/2110866352772927640?s=20

The person making the point is a long term skeptic of medicare for all with a fairly orthodox perspective of it - support for healthcare alternatives can poll well in isolation, but support for them fall apart once you get onto a conversation of implementation and people are forced to think about what they will lose. People can and do hate the current situation, but very predictably fall back in line as soon as that is challenged.

The point he is therefore making is dont get tricked again into believing this means implementing medicare for all will be possible just because of the current polling when no real alternatives are being discussed. You can disagree with the conclusion, or even the vision, but you have to pretend to understand the argument (and Sirota has been around long enough to know) to present the post the way he has.
