Did you watch last night’s game @Zoran, how did the lad do?
He was… meh, okay. Not much to do because Cyprus didn’t create much, though Croatia as a whole certainly didn’t play well enough in their first two qualifiers (lost in Slovenia 1-0 and beat Cyprus at home by “only” 1-0, they had to keep Modric on for 90 minutes to keep calm) and Malta is next (so I don’t think it will be best to judge him, although Malta got a result in Slovakia last night).
Vida got the Slovenia game ahead of him, but then he started last night (played LCB alongside Lovren) and will perhaps keep his place against Malta. We’ll see.
Both CB’s tried to get involved in breaking down the opponent by passing well from the back, but it was mixed success at best. Had a reckless (and really needless) two footed challenge when he came out of his position to push up and got a deserved yellow card for it.
Marseille are struggling lately, so maybe he’s not doing really well either. Who knows if they qualify for Europe at all. A bit disappointing because in autumn Marseille had about 3 games less than the rest and could’ve gone top of the league.
Quite a few of us were on the Caleta-Car train in January. It appears to have gone off the rails…
Wolves have submitted an £8.6m bid to sign Marseille and Croatia defender Duje Caleta-Car but the Ligue 1 side want £12.9m before they allow the 24-year-old to leave. (Foot01 - in French)
Wonder why his valuation has plummeted so rapidly and why bigger clubs than Wolves aren’t interested?
Wasn’t there another defender from the French League who was also hyped at that time???
Was it Sven Botman? apparently Wolves were talking to him…
Did we send one of our scouting team over there?
