With the exception of Saka this appears to be Arteta’s preferred XI. You can probably take the beginning of the 22-23 season as the point this team was established. Despite his moaning, they have brought in a fair number of players since then and for good money, but this team says something interesting about their impact - more of those signings are only good enough for the bench today than forced themselves into this first XI. That speaks to the difficult situation they are in - its much harder to find the improvements that can take you from contenders to winners than it is to turn you from also rans to contenders.
