England National Team

He was very active on RAWK and I guess people can be stubborn when they make a point

It happens, for England imo it is never the less right to play the best players. I donā€™t understand the argument that some make that (or I understand it, but I donā€™t think it hold water as it is too self serving, centered around our clubā€™s interests alone) for instance England managers should not play their best players in friendlies. If they want to set the team for important games, they need to also use them in friendlies. As supporters of a team where various countries use our players, we just have to accept that they use them as we use them. The players themselves want to play for their countries and they want their various countries to do as well as they can hope for. And then they have to use the correct players also in friendlies, which are nice games where you can for instance test system variations and tactics and glue the team.

This is just my opinion at least.

Liverpoolā€™s Trent Alexander-Arnold to miss Euros with England. Scans have shown a thigh injury which will sideline him for around six weeks.

What you are ignoring here is the fitness, risk of injury aspect of selection.
Klopp makes his selections for example with scientific fitness data in mind (obviously a lot of factors are taken in to account).

Zoran, you are very contradictory in your opinions of managers.

You praise Pep to high heaven, ignoring his financial advantage that he has and does enjoy, for the results he has achieved. At the same time you praise Southgate for the medocre results he has achieved but to be fair the talent England currently possess is probably 2nd only to France. Southgate has the talent pool pretty much equivalent to Pepā€™s financial advantage. Strange opinions.

With regards to Croatia vs England semi (imo) Modric and Rakitic is a world class partnership.

Are you sure you mean talent.

6 weeks is perfect, anymore and it impacts on pre season any less and he would probably still go.

Anyhow I would say Hoddle was the last decent England manager but he then dabbled with that rune stones obsessed cretin who thought disabled people deserved their disabilities.

Venables side in 1996 was entertaining, I think they should have done everything to keep him.

I donā€™t think club management means you will be a good national coach and vice versa but Southgate is limited and was an exceptionally poor club manager

In 2021 I shouldnā€™t be watching a black player run up to take a penalty and hoping he scores not because it gives England a lead but for what might come from the crowd and afterwards.

Itā€™s depressing.

Hendoā€™s just doing his best to get dropped. Good lad.

Hendo got absolutely panned by every pundit the minute he decided he would take the penalty I knew he would miss it. Everything he did well before that didnā€™t even warrant a comment.
This is only a friendly but social medial will crucify him. Kane misses and it is no issue even if CL had missed no problem.

Least he isnā€™t blackā€¦. God knows what that would have done.

Should know itā€™s not a good look after the Balotelli incident.

I hate international breaks :-1:

This is amazing in my opinion, they have Mount as a certainity (and he will be one of the main starters) in a position in the structure heā€™s never player, at least not yet and not at this level. What are these people watching? Since when is Mount a double-six midfielder? Just typical, childish ā€œwe canā€™t leave other offensive players out, so letā€™s squeeze as much as possible inā€. Mount is at the moment an all action between the lines player, more of a modern #10, but not a lazy one, someone who will also pop up a little deeper to make it ā€œ3 CMā€™sā€ (or in a different structure with a single six, a very or the most offensive #8).

They did say ā€œpossibleā€, not ā€œlikelyā€. #TruthInAdvertising

Meanwhile, I guess LW, RW, and LCB will be filled by national lottery. :joy:

Iā€™d pick Johnstone after today, he actually came out and punched which is one up on Pickford.

Bit crazy as both lead in games were 4-2-3-1. Grealish was central in both, which is where I had mount penciled in, so we will see. Grealish left, mount the #10, and foden right, with Henderson and Rice makes sense to me. Or 4-3-3, with same personnel, just push Hendo into #8.

I guess either Southgate or the pundits have still not moved on from Conteā€™s Chelsea in 2016? 343 - really?
