That’s a separate question. Trump has already fallen out with Bannon and Musk and I still haven’t seen anything that links him with any of Epstein’s wrong doing.
But it’s also clearly true that Trump has a capacity to shrug off what would otherwise sink a British politician.
Well he is held to different standards. There are multiple memes and strands of disinformation regarding Starmer and Savile. I don’t think he ever met him, and his sole dealing was that his department couldn’t send him to trial because the witnesses didn’t want to testify alone in court.
Starmer actually changed the prosecution processes to stop that happening in future.
Meanwhile there are multiple pictures of Savile with prominent Tory politicians, he used to spend Christmas with Thatcher and she gave him a knighthood regardless of the better judgement of government advisors.
So where is the outrage? Nada. Nothing. Tumbleweed.
Remember, with power and money comes privilege. And that privilege is to steal, rape and even murder with impunity. Starmer actually challenged that, so naturally he is the bad guy.
I think this best fits here. Mandelson at work during the 2008 financial crash. For those that can’t see it. He was emailing Epstein with all the details of the governments actions which included things like the bailout details, Browns resignation later on etc.
I don’t think it’s just a Trump thing. It’s a benefit of most of the mainstream media and social media being owned by right wing oligarchs. It helps when there is absolutely no media pressure on you at all.
Look what Boris Johnson managed to ride out. He had scandal after scandal that would have sunk any Labour PM. I don’t think Johnson would be at risk of losing his job if he was in Starmer’s position now.
The Andrew aspect is particularly dirty though. Not just his behaviour but there’s definitely a whole trove of people that haven’t yet been implicated. He was known as Randy Andy going back 40 odd years ffs. He was our trade envoy for years.
Similar to the Savile corruption among the establishment, loads of people must have know about Andrew’s behaviour, not just that associated with Epstein.
Literally Mandelson’s continued involvement in the highest political circles refutes that premise. Same for Blair (Teflon Tony) ludicrously being a middle East peace envoy or more recently being appointed to Trump’s board of peace.
It’s not Labour or Conservative. Some people have a disgusting talent for survival.
You are far likely to have a ‘disgusting talent for survival’ if you are connected to and acting in the interests of the people who have all the money, and you are far likelier to be doing that if you are wearing a blue rosette rather than a red one.
The ‘New Labour’ crowd that surrounded Blair were very much cut from that cloth. But with Labour they are very much the exception rather than the rule.
There are already huge question marks with the nature of Epstein’s death. Now if a perfectly healthy Maxwell suddenly ends up kicking the bucket, it would be a bit too much on the nose. Even for the multi billionaire oligarch class.
She’s just been moved to an open prison (Illegal btw for a sex offender) and is scheduled to testify before Congress very soon. The obvious quid pro quo is that she will exonerate Trump and thereafter be pardoned.
I know this isnt what you are saying, but lets all be conscious of not making the mistake that definitions of wrong doing and illegality in this case revolve only around visits to the island. Epstein’s original conviction was largely based on his activities around his South Florida home, one in which there was known to be an exchange of girls between there and Mar a Largo.
I know I’m late to this story and it actually should be in the US thread, but here is the quote from the Daily Mail (the source for all the further xxxSun replicates):
“ 'We appreciate the opportunity to provide clarity regarding the recent comments made by Billie Eilish.
‘As the First People of the greater Los Angeles basin, we do understand that her home is situated in our ancestral land,’
‘Eilish has not contacted our tribe directly regarding her property, we do value the instance when Public Figures provide visibility to the true history of this country,’
Additionally, the tribe said they have contacted Eilish’s team ‘to express our appreciation for her comments.’
‘It is our hope that in future discussions, the tribe can explicitly be referenced to ensure the public understands that the greater Los Angeles basin remains Gabrieleno Tongva territory,’ they added.”
When read in full and not being chopped to fit their narrative there is nothing in this statement saying what the conservatives think it did. I don’t like putting people into US style conservative/liberal boxes but clearly one side believes in these spins more readily.
