You can bet that the government will waive any tax that would otherwise be due if the players give it away. That’s what’s happened in similar situations.

Fixed it for you.

Think Jason Mount has a fan for life. :sunglasses:

Why is this such a big story? Player gives kid shirt after match… Big deal… The media are like he’s fucking ghandi. Weird.

Because it’s a story involving a young girl and a Chelsea player that isn’t criminal. That’s newsworthy.

I don’t get why nobody is pointing out that the same England fans who think this is totes adorbz and newsworthy are the same ones that roasted a German girl on social media just last week?

How do you know they’re the same ones?

Because some of them are the same accounts

To be fair, they have been doing this for 20 odd years.

Was a concept that the players came up with in the late 90’s/early 2000’s that they would donate their match fees for England games to charity

I suspect the majority want us to win, they’re just reluctant to admit it, because they know they’ll be vilified by some people on here.

because a percentage of football fans are cunts?

@Kopstar
Even our small local newspaper has reported that the players will spend their fee to the NHS.
Very appreciable that, hat’s off!

Respectfully Rambler,

I know you are not like that. You are one of the most reasonable and placid posters on here. I hugely respect your opinions and you are one of the posters who has made me re-think about some issues. I was just expressing a certain time, when I was growing up in London, where there was a lot of tension. It wasn’t just the racial tension, but also with the social and economic difficulties of the time as well. Nevertheless, I am not saying every single English person thinks like those in the booing section. Times have changed for the better in some ways. I hope we can all be in this together and respect each other and our good neighbouring countries as well.

I am so happy for the young generation. My cousin’s kids are so excited to see the game. They see this England team as a new hope for them. I am sure my nephew will be eagerly watching his sporting heroes tomorrow, he’s only 8 years.

I haven’t got England shirt, but I do have an England woolly hat which I will get out of the wardrobe. I will get behind England of course. We have had so much bad luck in tournaments, hand of God 1986, Lampard goal over the line in 2010, Sol Campbell goal in 2002. I would love to have some luck come our way tomorrow.

So, the techy savvy members of family in Glasgow and outside the UK will be setting up a family zoom thing, so we can all be together virtually and watch the match. We will be singing Sweet Caroline, mostly out of tune and whatever the outcome will be, we will celebrate, and give the boys 100% of our support.

So, Come on England! . Do your best, not just for your country, for the little kid watching around the world who loves football   :fist:.

Jaffod,
I don’t always agree with some of your views, but, I still like you because you make me laugh in a good and positive way and you talk to me and not at me.
If you aren’t going to watch the match, at least join us in the cheesy sing a long songs and hand waving
ritual. We do need a few good laughs. The thing we are good at is, our sense of humour and how to turn a negative into a positive. :grinning:

Don’t worry Maria I have a pair of england swimming trucks that I got for a laugh. I also have a union jack. My son has england and scotland jerseys (as well as France and Algeria). It’s all good fun. My neighbours were showing off their new union jack just the other day.

I have a Team GB flag from the 2012 Olympics, doe that count? I will just wear Red or white T shirt on the day.

No idea Maria, I like field and track so have my union jack for that but love any country union really even the USA (as long as they don’t take drugs or have long finger nails). For me it’s all about ‘participating’ in what you like. Footballs different it’s culture for some time has been rather toxic, I just appreciate watching good players and analysing the tactics outside LFC.

Luton airport!! :joy:

Wonder why they didn’t land at Heathrow? That place is nearer to Wembley, than Luton airport I would have thought.
