This very interesting read about the background and the persona of Gareth Southgate.

The Italian juggernaut meets the resurgent Spanish.

I would love to see Spain win this but frankly, from what I have seen ,Italy look the most likely finalists. Spain will play some attractive football but Italy have that extra competitive edge.

I can not abide either of these cheats with their silly rolling around and pretending to be injured. Pretentious jerks.
Come on England or Denmark!!!

If Italy and England make the final, I’m all in on England - which is something from me.

Italy take shithouse football to the next level. Their antics the other night against Belgium we’re unbelievable. The best one was when the lad did his hamstring and was stood wanting to come off, band his Captain ran over and pushed him down on the ground to kill five minutes.

As long Enrique keeps Thiago on the bench I’m fine with whoever wins that one.

Surely we’re for Italy so Thiago can ‘come home’, no?

Doesn’t really matter at this stage as the 2 losers have the 3rd place play off to play. From memory, I think that is the day before the final, so he would at best get an extra 24 hours compaired to if they make the final

He is, Pedri has established himself in the starting 11.

So it’s no big deal for Thiago, though of course, the longer he’s “in the competition”, the more break before pre-season he will get. But we’ll see what both parties decide when is best for him to return and join our lads.

I’d forgotten about that as I never take any notice of it.
Your right however I’m not going to thank you as that has depressed me.

Yep, the most drab, dour and boring game of football ever thought up. No idea why it still gets played as I am sure even tournement organisers look at it and think why bother?

An intriguing game which I look forward to. In all probability, it will be a close one, but the styles are very different. For a change, Italy should be the team with the most pleasing style to watch, while Spain will try to keep the ball at all times, as they always do.

So, will Italy find a way to disturb the flow of their passing game, create chances on counters and expose Spain’s defensive issues? I’d think so. Even Switzerland managed to do it during the second half before Michael f… Oliver sent off Freuler.

I didn’t see Italy as one of the potential winners when the tournament started, but they have morphed into a great team during this Euro. 2-1 for Italy, possibly after extra-time.

I don’t find continuous diving and play acting particularly easy on the eye, personally. :man_shrugging:

The ball is only going to be in play for twenty minutes, but what a twenty minutes it’s going to be!

… and we all fall down, roly poly and merry go round. :joy:

Contrarily to other Italian teams, they know how to play football though. But yeah, the play-acting is part of their dna, no arguments from me there.

I will have my Thiago shirt on tomorrow.

LFC version of course.

There is no third-place playoff, and hasn’t been one since 1980. @Flobs this ought to cheer you up…

I never knew that.

I always assumed that uefa just followed fifa’s ideas to milk as much money out of their cashcow as they could
