Euro 2020 Archive Thread

Neither did I actually, but in my defence it’s the first season that I’ve been following the Euros so closely…

Thank you and goody I have a team to back, Italy!

Looking forward to tonight’s game. Wife is off out to her friends for tea, she’s bought me a pizza. Hopefully the dogs not a prick tonight!

The Shithouse Showcase. Whichever team wins this, the other finalists will have a job on their hands trying to play a fair game against them. I fucking hate the way the Spanish and Italian teams cheat their ways through life. The FA should start punishing playacting and cheating :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

The FA cant change what happens in Spain or Italy

Interesting, both Morata and Moreno on the bench.

Could be Torres up front.

Ah, I meant FIFA.

This is the thoroughbreds’ semi final: Italy have four World Cups and one European Championship to their names, whilst Spain have one and three of those titles respectively.

Compare that to the donkeys in tomorrow’s game- one major title each. :grimacing:

I never subscribe to these extremely typical fan views (I am taking the liberty of using you as an example but your opinion is very common). The players themselves wants to go as far as possible and while it is true that they get less hollyday days, very many players get into quite good form from such games and most will get a psychological boost from having a successfull championship. I honestly think it is better for most players if they go far and deep in such tournaments despite the risk of burning some out. It brings very good experience if you go far and deep too and it is certainly good for the ego.

So yeah, I think we should welcome our players go as far as possible in general. It is good for them.

As for the game, I am just hoping for some good football. I have Italy as slim favorites. I am not super impressed by Spain and I also have an active dislike for Tiki Taki football. I like football better when it is fast and direct with great tempo in the transitions.
But Spain is good of course. But maybe not the best right now.

Never thought I’d say this, but overall I enjoyed the Italian football so far, so atm I’m backing them.
Might still change my mind mid-game though.

May the weakest team win.:joy:

Looks like Olmo up top as a false #9 instead.

Offside
But how the fuck did he miss that???

He didn’t. He just waited as they should with VAR I suppose.

Only one of those nations claims to be the home of the game and the biggest football nation. :see_no_evil:

TSN co-hosts were extremely critical on the diving antics… With that the youngsters will follow suit as there are no consequence. They suggested that VAR should be used for punishing diving antics.

They used the Italy goal in the last game with someone rolling around in the penalty spot… Once Italy scored, he jumped back up to celebrate the goal.

The other example they used was last Brazil game, Tiago Silva rolled around injured, then realised he was outside the touch line, he looked and rolled back onto the pitch.

Almost for Spain. Some good play so far.

All Spain so far.

Which inevitably means 1-0 to Italy in the end.
