Hindsight is 20-20, I still don’t think that the match should be continued today. The trauma that the players went through watching their teammates and fellow footballer went through such an ordeal, it did not feel right.
Players have already died of cardiac arrest in football.
It is irresponsible bordering on inappropriate to speculatively connect what happened with Eriksen to the political disputes with football governing bodies mere hours after the fact.
By the way, Eriksen played fewer than 1,700 minutes of football for Inter this season.
I hear what you are saying, and take on board those comments. But, given Eriksen looks to thankfully be OK, then I do think it’s appropriate to consider what we experienced 44 minutes into a game of football in the wider context of the escalating demands for more and more football.
I also disagree this is about politic disputes. It’s about player well-being. Workload might not have been the direct cause of today, but we don’t want to see scenes like this again.
It’s not nice but my God those Fins are a bunch of comedians. All 2 meters 90 kilos but they are dropping like fly’s from the first minute. They have football as much to offer as Fat Sam.
Just noticed that Thomas Delaney (former Werder Bremen player) was already part of a similar situation with Nouri at the Ajax - Werder friendly a few years ago, when the situation was unfortunately not recognized so quickly. Hence his great reaction probably.
It’s actually unbelievable when that happens to someone twice, I don’t even want to imagine what went through his head.
First of all: Relieved that Eriksen is survived.
Second: Well done Denmark’s captain. Fantastic reaction to the situation.
Third: Those going on about the cameras still rolling, there was a stadium full of people who were watching. Again fantastic from the players to put a human wall around him.
4th: Super job by the medics.
5th: Great to hear both sets of fans chanting his name.
6th: Not sure making statements as to why he collapsed and apportioning blame without any facts is very helpful. Could be a few different reasons. A little while ago Iker Casillas had a heart attack.
Someone poo pooing the idea of the vaccine being the cause for example is silly. People have had adverse reactions to vaccines however rare. I’m sure we’ll find out in due time what happened.
Last of all: The most important thing is that it seems he will make a full recovery.
Yeah but if they can pull the camera when some bloke or woman runs across the pitch with their bits out then I am sure they didn’t have to zoom in on Eriksen several times.
The first of his face was enough to cause alarm, pull it then. I don’t mind them scanning the stadium or they could have pulled to the sky camera.
It was baffling that it took til three shots after the shot of him having CPR delivered to stop focusing on it but to be honest Denmark’s players had thankfully caused a wall around him even as distraught as it would have been to them.
Maybe I was wrong to watch on, most of the stadium aren’t going to see a close up of the player on the floor mind.
As for Finland and their play acting, I didn’t like it before the players went off but I found it slightly sickening afterwards. I hope they go out.
Don’t hold your face and then get treated for cramp.
Fair enough. I’m obviously going too far. To be honest, I’ve been fearing something like this for a while, and think we expect far too much from these lads in terms of games.
Not that details matter. What matters is he survived and was well enough to speak to teammates via phone prior to their retaking the pitch. The Denmark team doctor explains the situation, however, which sheds light on why there was no CPR for a good two minutes after his collapse.
"Speaking after the game, Denmark team doctor Morten Boesen, who came out to treat Eriksen, described what happened.
‘I want to start by saying that I’ve had a talk with Christian’s family. I’m not going to say anything in detail right now. I want to say what we’ve seen,’ Boesen said. ‘We were called on to the pitch when Christian fell down. I didn’t see it myself, but it was pretty clear that he was unconscious. When I got to him, he is on his side. He is breathing and I can feel his pulse, but suddenly that changes. And as everyone saw, we started giving him CPR.’"
In the cold light of this morning and with respectful distance, I can absolutely and categorically tell you for certain those exact thoughts of yours went through Jürgen’s mind over the last 12 hours. I’ll go a bit further and say I wouldn’t be surprised if something else similar happens to a player at some point in this
What a great leader has captain Simon Kjaer been. Almost first on the scene recognizing something bad has happened, helping Eriksen until help arrived. Then he made sure that his teammates made a circle around them so the paramedics and doctor could do their work undisturbed and last but not least comforting Cristian’s wife when she appeared on the pitch.
